The Nintendo eShop has opened pre-orders for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave ahead of its September 17, 2026 launch, and it’s slated as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. Nintendo says this is the eighteenth mainline Fire Emblem game. It’s being developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo, and it’s set in the Dagdan Empire, where the Heroic Games are said to grant one wish and kick off a larger story driven by clashing ambitions, shifting alliances, and fights over political power.
The story follows four protagonists in the imperial capital of Dagsion: Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda. That setup goes a long way toward explaining the early Game of Thrones comparisons. Four leads, one capital, a lot of competing agendas. From the look of it, though, the similarity seems to be more about factional intrigue than dragons or shock-fantasy excess.
Combat is pulling in some familiar Fire Emblem ideas. Nintendo says Fortune’s Weave brings back Combat Arts and Gambits from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and adds new Blaze Arts special moves on top of that.
Nintendo has also confirmed that Fortune’s Weave takes place in the same world as Fire Emblem: Three Houses, with Sothis showing up in promotional material. As for the talk that it might play like Final Fantasy, that still seems like a stretch at this point and, for now, more speculation than anything confirmed.
