Netflix has announced the release of the complete series of Stranger Things in Blu-Ray and 4K UHD formats, to celebrate its tenth anniversary on July 15.
This collection marks the first time that all five seasons will be available in these physical formats. The physical editions, produced in collaboration with Arrow Films, will be released on July 27 in the United Kingdom and July 28 in the United States and Canada.
It will only be sold in three countries and for 200 dollars
Fans will be able to pre-order their copies starting March 19 through the Arrow Films websites, as well as at major retailers worldwide. The collection will be available in several editions, including Special and Deluxe versions that will feature exclusive content.
This content will include a 148-page script, a Hellfire Club patch, posters, art cards, and themed Stranger Things dice for tabletop gaming enthusiasts.
The prices for these editions will start at $199.99 in the United States and £149.99 in the United Kingdom, which could be a considerable expense for fans, especially considering that the monthly cost to watch Stranger Things streaming is only $7.99 in the U.S. and £5.99 in the U.K.
Although the prices of physical editions are significantly higher, physical media enthusiasts may see value in having the entire series in a collectible format.
The creators of the series, Matt and Ross Duffer, expressed in a statement their desire for Stranger Things to be fully possessed: “Not just as a collector’s set, but as a way to preserve the show for the coming decades.”
In this context, although prices may seem high, they are part of a broader strategy to capitalize on the cultural impact that the series has had.
