Hello Kitty x The Apothecary Diaries gets new merch: pre-orders are live

Sanrio confirmed on June 24, 2026 that a Hello Kitty x The Apothecary Diaries collaboration is on the way, with the merchandise set to hit Japan on August 7. The collection matches Maomao with Hello Kitty, Jinshi with Cinnamoroll, Gyokuyou with My Melody, and Gaoshun with Tuxedo Sam. The goods include acrylic stands, keychains, and stationery. Sanrio also said pre-orders begin June 24, 2026, ahead of the August 7 launch in Japan.

If you like either series, this feels like a pretty easy yes. Sanrio’s pastel-heavy look fits better than you might expect with The Apothecary Diaries, a series built on palace politics, poison experiments, and that slow, simmering tension between characters. Fans online seem to agree. Some of the early responses have been genuinely enthusiastic, and people outside Japan are already asking the same question: will there be an import option?

For Sanrio, the collaboration makes sense. Hello Kitty still has the afterglow of the brand’s 50th anniversary, and The Apothecary Diaries has turned into one of anime’s biggest hits over the past few years. Reports said it was the most-watched anime of 2025 across several Japanese streaming services, and the audience for it clearly goes past the usual crowd that shows up for character goods. Add in plans for a third season and a feature film later in 2026, and the timing lines up neatly.

You can already pre-order the collection in Japan. So far, though, Sanrio hasn’t confirmed a wider international release.
