If you’ve browsed the Internet a bit in the last two years, you already know that everything Hideo Kojima says, whether it’s a movie review or a simple photo, gets hundreds of retweets, memes, and comments. And he is perfectly aware that a funny phrase is enough to make everyone dance to his tune. But of course, he also has to promote Death Stranding 2, the game that is expected to be released in 2025 and that all the fans are waiting for… although the testing may not be going entirely well.
Go to sleep, Hideo
It all started when Ayako Terashima, the director’s assistant, began uploading photos of Kojima playing the demo with something in his mouth, or, as in this case, covered in stickers and wearing sunglasses. Of course, one of these images went viral immediately, and Kojima had to clarify the background: “I fell asleep twice while delivering and drove the vehicle off a cliff. I sleep little,” he responded on Twitter.
It refers to the game character, of course, so don’t think he has become a truck driver and caused a catastrophe while laughing. In part, it’s normal for Kojima to sleep little, considering that he has to be preparing everything to appear on December 13 at The Game Awards showing more of Death Stranding 2. It’s not confirmed, but it’s already a tradition, so he better prepare a couple of good cups of coffee because what’s coming now won’t be easy.
At the moment, we don’t know much about this sequel, beyond the ten-minute trailer we saw last January and the little we’ve seen on social media, but it won’t be long before we have it in our hands and judge whether it was worth getting covered in stickers and spending almost a year without sleep.
