Old school gamers were amazed not only the first time a ‘Sonic’ game came out on a Nintendo console, but also the first time the two mascots, hand in hand, competed in an Olympic video game. That was in 2007, and since then cross-overs between exclusivities seemed to have taken a break until recently when Xbox announced that ‘Sea of thieves’, ‘Grounded’, ‘Penteniment’ and ‘Hi-Fi Rush’ could be played on PS5 and PC. And, oh surprise, there will be more.
Selling by pieces
If it weren’t for the fact that not long ago they assured us that the company is doing great, one would think they are selling Xbox piece by piece to the highest bidder. Although Phil Spencer announced that other bigger games, like ‘Starfield’, would never make this change to multiplatform, it seems they are considering it.
According to insiders, Satya Nadella, current CEO of Microsoft, has asked the Xbox division to consider giving more exclusive games to other platforms. And not just indies, but absolutely all of them. It hasn’t been well received internally, but they have even been forced to make a list of games that could and could not be ported.
It’s not a rumor: several media outlets like Eurogamer or Windows Central have confirmed it, although that doesn’t mean, of course, that we will end up playing Halo on PS5. A strange era begins for Xbox, which it had not experienced until now. And frankly, if you are fans of the company, I wouldn’t expect a new console after Xbox Series. It doesn’t seem like things are going great for them.
