Nissan has officially unveiled the sixth-generation Micra, now transformed into an all-electric vehicle (EV) that boasts a modern design and advanced technological features.
The introduction took place on Wednesday, showcasing an “audacious” new look that aligns closely with the aesthetics of contemporary SUVs, marking a significant departure from its compact predecessors.
The Micra EV, which now stands taller with a reimagined front end and wider wheel arches, offers an impressive driving range of over 250 miles (408 km), a significant upgrade from the previous Leaf model, which delivered up to 270 km (167 miles).
Reimagined Micra EV Offers 250+ Miles of Range and Fast Charging Capabilities
Available with two battery optionsâ40 kWh and 52 kWhâthe new model provides WLTP ranges of 310 km (192 miles) and 408 km (253 miles), respectively. This shift not only emphasizes Nissan’s commitment to electrification in the competitive automotive market but also positions the Micra EV as a viable option for urban commuters.
Inside the vehicle, upgrades include dual 10.1-inch navigation and driver display screens, contributing to a modern and user-friendly experience. Unique design elements inspired by Japan’s Mount Fuji are cleverly integrated into the interior, enhancing its appeal while paying homage to the brand’s heritage. Nissan’s designers have even described the rear waistline as reminiscent of a “scoop” of ice cream, exemplifying their attention to detail.
Further enhancing its practicality, the Micra EV supports DC fast charging capabilities, allowing owners to recharge the battery from 15% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes using a 100 kW charger. Additionally, it features vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, enabling the car to power various electronic devices.
As Nissan readies the Micra EV for launch in Europe later this year, it will face off against emerging competitors like BYD’s Dolphin Mini, which recently entered the market at a competitive price point. The ongoing EV landscape is sure to evolve as these models hit the roads, prompting consumers to evaluate their options closely.
