Persona 4 Revival is still slated for February 18, 2027, but fans are already arguing over a small script change that hit a nerve with longtime players. In Persona 4 Golden, Yosuke says to the male protagonist, “you do seem to be great with your hands…,” and players say Persona 4 Revival swaps that out for wording that sits closer to the original Japanese. That fits with Atlus’s recent habit of leaning toward more literal localizations, even when that means cutting back on the extra ambiguity the English script used to add.
For anyone still hoping Atlus might finally do a Yosuke romance route, that change lands hard. Fans have been circling the unused romance content buried in the original game’s data for years, so seeing one of the most talked-about bits of subtext disappear reads, to a lot of people, like a pretty blunt signal that a same-sex route isn’t happening.
Not everyone is hung up on the romance part.
Some fans are just bummed to lose a weird, memorable little character beat from Persona 4 Golden’s English version. The line is drawing even more scrutiny because people were already watching Persona 4 Revival closely after Persona 3 Reload. Add in the fact that Persona 4 Revival is replacing the entire English voice cast while the original Japanese actors are coming back, and every change was probably going to get picked apart anyway.
