The truth is that Switch has managed to establish itself as one of the best consoles in Nintendo’s history. In addition to its great design, Switch can boast an incredible catalog of exclusives, such as the Pokémon saga.
With its ups and downs, Pokémon titles continue to dominate sales, perhaps partly thanks to the success of Switch. In fact, Nintendo’s console has become the most successful platform for Pokémon. In other words, Switch is where most people have bought Pokémon games, surpassing all other platforms.
This news comes after the release of Nintendo’s latest annual profit report, which states that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have sold a combined total of 560,000 copies since the beginning of 2024. In total, this would mean that the ninth generation of Pokémon has sold nearly 25 million copies since its release.
If we add these figures to the 26 million achieved by Shield and Sword, plus other releases like Arceus, Shining Pearl, and Brilliant Diamond, this leaves us with a total of 96.32 million units sold so far.
Certainly, these impressive numbers demonstrate that the audience still wants more Pokémon games, despite the numerous problems it has faced in this generation.
