Valve’s Steam Machine gaming PC is already popping up in resale listings tied to reservations ahead of its June 30 release, and early sellers are asking a lot more than Valve’s retail price.
Valve says the 512GB model starts at $1,049, while the official 512GB bundle costs $1,128. Resellers, though, are asking about $1,700, with listings at $2,800, $3,200, and even $3,500. One listing at roughly $2,800 was reportedly marked as sold.
So far, this still isn’t PS5-level chaos. Only a small number of listings are live, and Valve’s randomized reservation system may be keeping scalping in check for now. The same goes for the requirement that Steam accounts be in good standing and have made a purchase before April 27, 2026, along with the one-per-household cap in North America, the UK, and the EU. Still, the real test comes when more units start shipping.
If you’re planning to buy one, those resale prices aren’t worth it. The Steam Machine is already pricey at retail, and Valve says RAM, SSD, and broader component shortages are what pushed the price up. The company has also suggested prices could come down later.
You’ll be able to buy the Steam Machine through Valve starting June 30, but even if the compact design and the console-style SteamOS experience appeal to you, this still looks like a niche device at this price.
