Ubisoft’s massively multiplayer online racer The Crew is out today, and there’s a brand new trailer to celebrate. Watch it below.

The Crew sees you racing around the United States in seriously customized automobiles, evading the cops and taking out the competition. There’s off-road and city racing, and it looks like an impressive arcade racing game.

Ubisoft didn’t send review copies early, claiming that multiplayer is so important to The Crew, that it’s unfair to judge the game until it’s being played by lots of people. There may be something to that argument, as there have been plenty of examples of games that were well reviewed before release, only for players to discover multiplayer mode couldn’t stand the stress of huge numbers of players or the game was plagued with bugs.

Nevertheless, that means we’ll have to wait to find out what critics think of The Crew. We’re hoping it turns out well, as alongside Project Cars, there could be two good options for PC racing fans, the latter providing a simulator experience. The Crew, on the ther hand, will give the arcade thrills.

Ubisoft’s racing game The Crew is coming out for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360 on December 2nd. The latest trailer, which you can see below, highlights the customization and upgrades.

The Crew is set in the USA, in a ‘persistent world’ which is so big it apparently takes 90 minutes to drive across it. You can play the game alone, with friends, or against other players, as well as compete on leaderboards for fastest times.

As you can see in the trailer, there’s a heavy focus on customization. You can take any vehicle and adapt it as you need, taking supercars off-road with different suspension and tires, for example. You can change and tune specifications, as well as interior and exterior parts to make a unique car, and show it off against other players.

Stay tuned for more information in the run-up to the game’s release.

More cars to be announced for The Crew soon

On its official The Crew Twitter account, Ubisoft announced it will be showcasing more of the cars you’ll play in game soon. The Crew is a racing game set in an open world with extensive online and multiplayer features.

Delayed until December 2nd, after three beta testing periods, we know that The Crew will have a big catalog of cars to drive from manufacturers including Nissan, Ford, Chevrolet, RUF, Dodge, Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Mini, Shelby and others. Currently only a few actual models have been confirmed, but we can tell from the image tweeted by TheCrewGame that the BMW M5 will be in the list.

Replying to its tweet, its clear that gamers have plenty of car requests for The Crew, from the Mazda RX-7 to the Hennessey Venom GT. Will your favorite automobile make it into the game?

Racing game fans have a great fall/winter to look forward to. As well as The Crew, there’s also Project Cars, which will be more for the hardcore crowd, with its emphasis on simulation and realism. Project Cars will be released earlier than The Crew, on November 18th (21st in Europe).

Stay tuned for more vehicle announcements about The Crew, which will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Crew online racing game gets delayed until Dec 2

Ubisoft’s massive online multiplayer racing game, The Crew, has been delayed until December 2nd. The game was originally scheulded to launch November 11th.

Ubisoft explains the short delay is due to the fact that the company wants to incorporate more user feedback before the game launches. “We are now scrutinizing all of the player feedback so we can ensure that The Crew delivers the seamless open-world experience that meets everyone’s high expectations,” said Ubisoft Creative Director Julian Gerighty.

Ubisoft hosted three closed betas already on both PC and consoles. The company wants to launch another round of beta testing for console gamers in November, perfecting the game before launch.

The Crew will be available December 2nd on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
