The Belmonts arrive at V Rising with a DLC

Castlevania makes a grand entrance into V Rising with a DLC that brings us the Belmonts, Dracula, and some spectacular battles.

Some games maintain great popularity without us knowing. With a lower profile, they continue to maintain a loyal audience that never abandons them, showing themselves as a true success for their fans. That’s the case with V Rising. A game that may not make the same noise as when it was released in early access, next month will be two years, but it has remained in good health all this time.

That’s why it shouldn’t surprise us that yesterday at Triple-I, a new indie game event, a DLC for V Rising was announced. Specifically, a collaboration with the most famous vampire franchise in history: Castlevania.

Both a DLC and free content, this collaboration, named Legacy of Castlevania, will require us to face Simon Belmont, the vampire hunter. With new combat abilities and weapons, it promises to be a tough battle, with many nods to the original series. Even if most of them are behind a paywall, in the form of DLC.

Because along with the collaboration, for free, a DLC named Legacy of Castlevania Premium Pack will be released. For 19.99 euros, the pack will include costumes inspired by the franchise, two new versions of Simon’s Theme and Bloody Tears, as well as the possibility of designing your own castle in the classic gothic style of Castlevania. Something that will delight fans of the franchise, as they will be able to, for the first time, live the dream of being the rightful heir of Dracula. Or at least one who doesn’t have the sole purpose of killing him.

Both Legacy of Castlevania and Legacy of Castlevania Premium Pack will be available on PC on May 8th, coinciding with the official release of V Rising from early access. A version of the game for PlayStation 5 is planned for release in the future.

After the success of Castlevania, Netflix ventures into an anime adaptation of a Capcom video game

Devil May Cry will be the next video game to have an anime on Netflix, this time by the team behind the Castlevania series.

Netflix has found an unexpected goldmine in anime. It’s working well for them; they don’t have to halt productions due to strikes (for now), and the video game franchises to adapt seem to be endless. It’s true that some studios have performed better than others, and not all franchises have yielded the results the company hoped for. But overall, it’s been a success. A significant success in the case of Castlevania and the man behind it, Adi Shankar.

Netflix has released a brief trailer for its upcoming adaptation of a famous video game franchise, this time from Capcom, and it’s Devil May Cry. The studio behind it will be Studio Mir, a Korean studio that has previously worked on other Netflix series such as Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts and DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. As for the show’s creator, it will be Adi Shankar, who previously served as an executive producer and showrunner for Castlevania, one of the platform’s biggest animated successes.

However, this announcement isn’t entirely new. This series was actually announced back in 2018 when Adi Shankar acquired the audiovisual production rights for Devil May Cry, although it’s only now that concrete progress has been made.

Furthermore, the series still lacks a director and a confirmed release date. When we add to that the fact that the teaser only shows a few seconds of animation, it’s safe to assume that this project is still in the works, and it will likely take several months before it’s premiered on the platform. Even if expecting it before the second half of 2024 on Netflix seems unlikely, it’s always exciting to see these kinds of projects making their way.
