Donald Trump can now resume streaming on Twitch after three years

‘We have reinstated President Trump’s channel. We believe there is value in listening to presidential nominees directly when possible.’

Imagine that you open Twitch like every afternoon to enjoy watching one of your favorite streamers, and you find out that Donald Trump is playing an intense game of League Of Legends. No, it’s not an artificial intelligence, nor have you traveled through a wormhole to an alternate universe: it could happen, because after three years, the service has lifted the ban on the former president (and possible future president) of the United States.

Do one hundred bits equal one vote?

For those who don’t know, Twitch banned Trump’s Twitch page on January 7, 2021, the day after a riot at the White House. The ban was to prevent Trump from using their service to ‘incite violence.’ However, they have now decided to reinstate him, and it seems to have nothing to do with an attempted assassination attempt on Trump – they claim it’s a much more simple reason.

‘We have reinstated President Trump’s channel. We believe there is value in listening to presidential nominees directly when possible.’ At the time when he was first banned for ‘behavior that incites hatred,’ they referenced a time he said many undocumented immigrants are rapists. His speeches haven’t changed much, but Twitch has changed their policy. And here we are.

Of course, the service has already stated that if he wants to continue streaming, he will have to behave well, but knowing Donald Trump, there is only one thing that matters to him less than starting to mess around with Twitch: following the rules.

The FBI claims to have found Donald Trump’s shooter’s Steam account

We tend to think of everyday monsters as absolutely fetid, disgusting, terrible people, incapable of showing any human feelings, and dedicated 7 days a week exclusively to killing and dismembering. But the truth is that they also have their hobbies: cinema, music, reading, and of course, video games. Yes, really. And it hasn’t necessarily turned out as you might expect.

An unsuccessful search

By now, it’s not necessary to tell you that a 20-year-old man, Thomas Matthew Crooks, attempted to kill Donald Trump (and ended up being shot to death). It has shocked the United States, practically decided the elections, and has given rise to all kinds of conspiracy theories from both sides. And, of course, every new piece of information is news.

That’s why we have learned that the FBI has claimed to have found Crooks’ Steam page, and they have used it to try to discover his motives and put together a timeline. We don’t have any more information about the games he played, but CNN has stated that investigators now believe it’s just a fake profile that has wasted their time.

For now, thanks to his mobile, we know that in the previous weeks he was searching for photos of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, and it was believed that he left a message on Steam saying “July 13th will be my premiere, see how it unfolds.” However, now it seems that they believe it wasn’t Crooks’ account and that it was a false lead. So far, the FBI has not found any motivation and there was no ideological content in their searches, so it’s not easy. Will we ever know more or are we facing the future great conspiracy of the next decade? Only time will tell.

It’s not known if the United States will ban TikTok… especially after what Donald Trump just did

The situation with TikTok in the United States is not easy to solve, especially during an election period. After both Joe Biden and Donald Trump promised to ban the social network completely if they won the elections, now the latter has created a profile and has achieved the impossible: 3.5 million followers with just one video, at the peak of his legal problems… and, paradoxically, of his popularity.

Tik, Tok, Trump

In the video, he only says one phrase (“It is an honor for me”), enough for it to have been seen by more than 64 million people around the world with 153,000 comments. His love-hate relationship with social media is legendary, and TikTok can be the ideal place to convince young and more skeptical voters. There are only five months left until the elections and they have to use all the advertising tricks they can, after all.

Joe Biden is also on TikTok, but he has only managed to amass just under 350,000 followers for months, with videos that usually don’t exceed one million views… And the comments are clearly pro-Trump. There is still a long way to go, but if TikTok helps – as it seems it will – the former president’s career, will he dare to ban it afterward? There are only doubts right now… and very, very few certainties.

That time when Donald Trump put his name on a board game (and it was a failure)

The legend says that Jeffrey Beslow, known for creating board games based on absurd licenses like ‘Donkey Kong’ or ‘Jaws,’ held a meeting to propose ‘Trump: The Game’ to him in 1988.

The name of Donald Trump immediately brings to mind a lot of mental situations, and not all of them are precisely positive, from the Capitol Assault to Jimmy Fallon messing up his hair (in a strange but somehow effective political maneuver). However, some time ago, the business shark, cameo in ‘Home Alone 2’ and star of ‘The Apprentice’ tried to make a name for himself, from the top of his literal glass tower, in a board game.

A trumpazo was given

It wasn’t the first time that Trump put his name on something that had nothing to do with him: in the United States, they enjoyed his steaks (figuratively speaking: no one bought them) and his vodka, which, for now, is only being consumed in Israel. So, why not a board game? Legend has it that Jeffrey Beslow, a board game designer known for creating games based on absurd licenses like Donkey Kong or ‘Jaws’, had a meeting with him to propose ‘Trump: the game’ in 1988.

And we all know the former American president: few things he likes more than himself. So, without hesitation, he approved the project, which was developed with MB. Trump’s idea was to create a realistic Monopoly game, where the minimum amount to play would be ten million dollars. The manual ended up being so absurdly complex to explain something very simple that it took up 15 pages.

They released two million units to stores and barely sold 800,000 in total, of which the millionaire promised to donate 60% of the profits to charity (without the creators knowing anything). Later, in court, he had no way to prove that his promise was fulfilled. The promotional campaign was so intense that even Bob Stupak, director of a casino in Las Vegas, challenged Trump to a game of his own but with a million dollars at stake. Trump never accepted, not even when the bet became 250,000 dollars that Stupak himself would donate to the NGO of the winner’s choice.

It’s not surprising: in the ad, the big star only said two sentences (“My new game is Trump: the game” and “I think you’ll like it”) and practically doomed it to failure. Interestingly, in 2004, it was released again after the success of ‘The apprentice’ but in a much more simplified way, with a slogan announcing that you needed brains to win millions, but Trump to win billions. It was not a success either.

Ah, the game with Bob Stupak wouldn’t have gone anywhere: neither of the two millionaires had read the rules of the game because then they would have discovered that the minimum number of players is… three.

The lawyer of Donald Trump brings a gaming computer to the trial and it immediately goes viral

Alina Habba has appeared in court with her case well prepared… on a gaming computer. More specifically, the Asus ROG, whose logo changes colors (something it was doing throughout the entire session)

It might seem unbelievable to us in Europe, but Donald Trump, the only President of the United States with real possibilities of ending up in jail in their entire history, is currently the candidate with the highest chances of running in the next elections for the Republican Party. That’s the level. And every step of the way, it sinks deeper and deeper into the realm of pure meme.

Donald Trump… Let’s play!

Yesterday was the first day when Trump was going to sit in the dock and face his actions: a $250 million fraud. To sum it up, basically, the state attorney general accuses the former president of lying about his total net worth in the billions of dollars to secure better loan terms. This is hard to defend in itself, but his lawyer hasn’t done anything because she doesn’t take it seriously.

Alina Habba appeared in court with the case well-prepared… on a gaming computer. Specifically, the Asus ROG, whose logo changes colors (something it was doing throughout the entire session). Bored at work? Just play ‘Fortnite.’ Foolproof plan. The computer, by the way, costs between 1300 and 1800 euros, depending on where you look, and has a 17-inch screen, 16GB of DDR4 memory, and, of course, an RGB keyboard. Quite a powerhouse not exactly designed for trials of national importance.

Perhaps this won’t surprise you, but Habba was accused in 2022 of racist behavior in a trial, and apparently, there are videos of her rapping in her office using epithets that clearly are not allowed coming from someone of her status.

The real issue with this lawyer isn’t the gaming computer, which is just a side note. In fact, she probably doesn’t even realize the gravity of the situation. Her major problem right now is that she forgot to request a trial by jury, so she will be judged by Judge Justice Arthur Engoron, whom she has been calling everything from “crazy” to “dangerous” for months. Yes, things don’t look good. At least, I hope her ‘Call of Duty‘ matches are epic.
