We tend to think of everyday monsters as absolutely fetid, disgusting, terrible people, incapable of showing any human feelings, and dedicated 7 days a week exclusively to killing and dismembering. But the truth is that they also have their hobbies: cinema, music, reading, and of course, video games. Yes, really. And it hasn’t necessarily turned out as you might expect.
An unsuccessful search
By now, it’s not necessary to tell you that a 20-year-old man, Thomas Matthew Crooks, attempted to kill Donald Trump (and ended up being shot to death). It has shocked the United States, practically decided the elections, and has given rise to all kinds of conspiracy theories from both sides. And, of course, every new piece of information is news.
That’s why we have learned that the FBI has claimed to have found Crooks’ Steam page, and they have used it to try to discover his motives and put together a timeline. We don’t have any more information about the games he played, but CNN has stated that investigators now believe it’s just a fake profile that has wasted their time.

For now, thanks to his mobile, we know that in the previous weeks he was searching for photos of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, and it was believed that he left a message on Steam saying “July 13th will be my premiere, see how it unfolds.” However, now it seems that they believe it wasn’t Crooks’ account and that it was a false lead. So far, the FBI has not found any motivation and there was no ideological content in their searches, so it’s not easy. Will we ever know more or are we facing the future great conspiracy of the next decade? Only time will tell.
