If you don’t want to miss anything, follow our guide carefully to make sure you farm those juicy XP you need to get all the rewards you have your eye on.

Hang “Where’s Miles?” posters (3)

To complete this weekly mission in Fortnite you must do something very simple: place three “Where’s Miles?” signs. You can only do this in specific locations marked on the map, which appear when you select this challenge from the main menu of the game. To complete this task you will need to go to key points located in Mega City, Kinetic Quarry, Bubbling Bay, or the one located between Brutal Bastion and Medieval Dock, so keep an eye out for crossfire when trying to place those posters.

Collect gold bars in Brutal Bastion, Grandiose Farm or The Citadel (50)

Brutal Bastion, Grandiose Farm, and The Citadel are three locations that will be familiar to you from nothing you’ve played Fortnite this season. If you select this challenge from the game’s main menu, you’ll see them highlighted on the map, and it will be for good reason. That reason is that to collect gold bars you’ll have to take out enemies in Battle Royale and Zero Build modes, open coffers, cash registers and safes, smash environmental objects like couches, beds and washing machines, or by completing Contracts. Another good way to achieve this is by claiming the capture point of one of these locations, as it will reward you with gold bars and other valuable items for your game – a faster and more fun way to accomplish this particular mission, if you want to focus on finishing it as soon as possible.

Eliminate a player before the first phase of the storm starts

In this mission, in any game mode, we must eliminate a player before the first circle of the storm begins. That means we have just a minute and a half to get it, so we will have to look for one of the areas where more players usually fall, such as Mega City or The Citadel, to finish off an opponent as we touch the ground. If you get a weapon before the first player you encounter, it is very likely that you will be able to complete this mission faster than it usually takes you to decide where on the map you are going to jump off the bus.

Survive to reach the top 50 without eliminating anyone

Here you will have to play Solo or Duo and manage to survive long enough to be among the top 50 without having eliminated anyone. Obviously, besides the fact that this is easier playing solo, your best bet is to drop in a less busy place like north of Brutal Bastion or south of Kinetic Quarry, and stay hidden for as long as possible. If you do this and stay as far away from the other players as possible, reaching the top 50 shouldn’t be a problem, apart from the lack of excitement of being hidden behind a hedge.

Collect and keep 5 different rarity items

This is the mission that gives the most experience points, but it is also the one that can end up giving you the most headaches. Here you will have to get five objects, each of a different rarity, and finish the game with them. For that you will have to open chests or find them lying on the ground and use the upgrade banks to get better versions of these items, being able to upgrade them up to the legendary level. If you keep this in mind and go carefully, it shouldn’t be a problem to complete the weekly missions and finish this season of Fortnite without any problems.

Epic Games’ next big thing: Free-to-play game details leaked

A true classic that, if you haven’t played, you’re going to enjoy while you make sure there are no zombies around you…

Is “Gratis” the most beautiful word in Spanish? Without a doubt, yes. And is “free game on the Epic Games Store” the best phrase we’re going to hear today? Absolutely. Especially when we already have a leak of the new game that will appear on the web next April 6 at five o’clock in the afternoon. A classic that, if you have not played, you will enjoy while watching out for zombies around you: ‘Dying light: The Following – Enhanced Edition’!

Day, night and zombies

After surprising with ‘Dead Island’, the Techland team wanted to repeat with zombies… but the resulting game had little to do with the fun of that one. Dying light’ is a mixture of survival horror and parkour (in other words: allowing you to fight or flee) in which the day and night cycle changes the experience completely: the zombies, with light, are slow and clumsy, and with darkness, extremely aggressive.

The game was released in January 2015 and was the best seller of the month: in fact, by now it has already sold more than 20 million units without taking into account those of its expansion (‘The Following’) and its 2022 sequel (‘Stay Human’). The ingredients were pure success: open world, first-person perspective, desert cities and zombies. Ah! And also a cooperative multiplayer. Who gives more for less?

If the rumors are true, on April 6 you will be able to play the definitive edition of ‘Dying Light’ for free, which includes its expansion and all the DLC. If you haven’t yet entered Techland’s world, this is the perfect preparation for ‘Dead Island 2’… Although this time they’re not the developers. At zero cost, there’s not much to complain about.

Epic vs. Apple: The saga continues at GDC

As usual, Epic Games has not missed the opportunity to criticize Apple and other companies. This time in the context of the GDC.

During GDC 2023, Epic Games has once again charged against Apple. During the State of Unreal conference, Epic presented its vision of a more open and connected metaverse -something that already existed, even if it wasn’t called that-, but didn’t miss the opportunity to criticize the apple company, accusing it of trying to control and limit innovation in the world of video games.

It is clear that the fact that the court gave almost all the reason to Apple after Epic’s lawsuit did not sit well with its head. Although the truth is that he has not missed the opportunity to criticize other players in the industry.

One criticism after another

During the conference, Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, focused on presenting the latest developments in the economy around its Unreal editor for Fortnite, as well as its new animation tool Metahumans and its marketplace Fab. As GamesIndustry reports, Sweeney also took the opportunity to reiterate his stance on the importance of creating an open metaverse accessible to all, without the intervention of large corporations.

However, these words were followed by harsh criticism of Apple. According to Sweeney, the Cupertino company is trying to monopolize the market and limit innovation in the world of video games. He claimed that Apple might try to “crush the metaverse” or “extract all the profits from it” and that the company would not allow developers to use its own engines.

Funny thing is, Sweeney seems to forget that Apple has allowed the use of third-party game engines on its platform for many years now. Unity and Unreal Engine – the latter from Epic – two of the most popular game engines, are available on the App Store. Developers use these engines to create many of the iOS and macOS games we may be playing right now.

On the other hand, Apple must ensure that the apps distributed in its own store meet certain security and quality requirements. Apple has implemented measures to ensure that developers can create high quality apps, and has established clear rules about the content allowed in its App Store. Some of these rules have been controversial and some have changed, but overall, they have helped maintain the integrity of the platform.

Epic Games should probably focus on developing its vision of a more open and accessible metaverse for all, rather than criticizing other companies without at least proposing improvements. Especially without losing sight of what conditions Epic itself applies to third-party games in its own store.

The Best Steam Alternatives to Play Online Video Games

Times have changed, and gone are the days when you had to run out to the store to buy that video game you’d been itching to play for months. Online video games are on the rise, and since the launch of Steam, platforms where you can buy them haven’t stopped popping up. Although physical games are still collectors’ items, nobody can deny that the online ones are far more convenient.

Página oficial de GoG

If you’re a fan of online games but have already grown bored of the Steam catalog, you’ve come to the right place. In today’s article, we’re going to share a roundup of the top online gaming platforms out there. All are excellent alternatives to Steam, and they compensate for some of the shortcomings in Valve’s catalog. We hope you find it helpful!

GoG (Good Old Games)

Página oficial de GoG

Our first pick is GoG (Good Old Games), the online platform created by CD Projekt with the goal of resurrecting classic video games and making them compatible with today’s operating systems. In short, it’s a gamers’ paradise, a place for people who have loved video games for years and want to be able to play old, sadly forgotten titles again.

The GoG catalog is simply superb. You’ll find thousands of classics that have made history in the gaming sector. The graphic adventures from Lucasarts, the Ultima saga, all the Wing Commander editions, the 7th Guest, the multiple releases of Might and Magic, all of King’s Quest, etc… And you can play them all without needing to download emulators, make boot discs, or tinker with your operating system to simulate DOS.

If you’re not crazy about old video games, don’t worry. For the past few years, GoG has been adding new games to its catalog as well. Although its name may suggest that it only has old games, don’t be fooled! You’ll actually find titles as new as, for example, Baldur’s Gate 3 or The Outer Worlds, and the catalog will soon offer Horizon Zero Dawn: The Complete Edition and Cyberpunk:2077.

One feature that sets GoG apart from similar platforms like Steam is that its games lack DRM. So, once downloaded, you can save them forever and you won’t need an internet connection to play them. In addition, although GoG has its own client to download and play its titles (GoG Galaxy), you’re not required to use it, so it’s a much less invasive experience than Steam.

If you’re one of those people who loves connecting to other users on Steam, we have good news for you: GoG Galaxy is quite similar in this respect. This client lets you connect and chat with friends, play against them in multiplayer mode and unlock trophies for all the games in your library. In fact, the only difference versus the Steam client is that GoG Galaxy is completely optional. If you want to try GoG Galaxy, you can download it below.

In short, GoG is the perfect option for anyone who’s looking for a website to complement the Steam catalog with something totally different. Most of the games you’ll find on this site are not available anywhere else, and they’re all excellent. So, check it out today!

Origin

Origin is the online gaming platform from EA (Electronic Arts). It has been in the market for almost as many years as Steam and GoG, and its catalog is highly focused on the company’s games. So if you’re looking for a digital platform to play or find the best prices for franchises like The Sims, FIFA, or Battlefield, be sure to check out Origin.

As we mentioned, the Origin catalog is strongly centered on Electronic Arts games, which becomes obvious as soon as you visit the website. Many of the top picks and recommendations will take you to EA’s main franchises, but if you keep looking, you’ll find a pretty decent catalog of titles from other companies. So you can find the complete Batman series by Rocksteady, The Witcher trilogy, all the Assassin’s Creed titles, etc.

Compared to other online gaming stores, Origin stands out for the fact that it has embraced the online subscription model. So on the website, you can subscribe to the EA Play or EA Play Pro services, which allow unlimited use of a juicy catalog of EA games, early access to the company’s upcoming releases, discounts of up to 10% on the whole website, and rewards and exclusive content for members. You can check out its subscription system here.

To download and play games, Origin uses a client that’s quite similar to Steam. Unlike GoG, it’s necessary to play games on Origin, but it offers all of the basic features for connecting to friends and enjoying games with them in multiplayer mode. You can download the Origin client quickly and securely below.

This makes it a truly interesting choice to complement Steam’s catalog of commercial games or GoG’s selection of classic titles.

As for its catalog, Itch.io features the cream of the crop from the indie universe. One of the platform’s strengths is that the vast majority of these titles are free, and you can communicate with the developers to help them improve their products until they can be sold. Ubisoft Connect

Formerly known as Uplay, Ubisoft Connect is Ubisoft’s online video game platform. It can be considered the most recent to hit the market, as it debuted just a few months ago with the launch of Watch Dogs Legion. However, it’s essentially just a facelift of Uplay, a platform that, while popular among fans of the company, never got off the ground.

The entire Ubisoft Connect catalog is centered exclusively on the company’s games. As such, its star games are the multiple releases from Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs and Far Cry. One thing to keep in mind: if you’re planning to play an Ubisoft title, you should always use its platform. Even if the title is also available on sites like Steam, you’ll be required to have Ubisoft Connect installed in order to play it.

Like Origin, Ubisoft Connect offers an interesting subscription service called Ubisoft+. You’ll have unlimited access to more than 100 games from the company, new releases, early access, expansions, etc., for a single monthly payment. To learn more details about Ubisoft+, we suggest visiting the website here.

As for its client, Ubisoft Connect uses a similar system to its competitors. From it, you can access your games, connect with friends and take advantage of multiplayer mode. As usual, you’ll need to have it installed and be connected to the internet to play games. You can download the Ubisoft Connect client below.

Epic Games Store

Página oficial de Epic Games Store

To wrap up our list, Epic Games Store is the digital platform from the company Epic Games. It’s known for being the latest company to enter the online video game market and for its constant squabbles with Steam enthusiasts. And if Epic Games Store is known for anything else, it would have to be for its large number of exclusive games.

Epic Games Store opened due to the extraordinary success of Fortnite, the company’s current flagship game. And if you’re a fan of this battle royale, you know perfectly well that you need to use its client, the Epic Launcher. It’s very simple but more than serves its purpose.

If we compare the Epic Games Store catalog with other platforms, it’s quite limited. After all, this store was recently created, and its greatest asset is precisely the exclusive agreements it has for certain games. However, the Epic Games Store has an extraordinary draw: it offers one free game every week. Yes, you heard that right, every week you can get a free title just by visiting its website. You can check the latest list of free games by clicking here.

Fortnite CEO says smartphones are the future of gaming

Is this another nail in the console coffin?

Tim Sweeney, CEO of Fortnite creator Epic Games, has made a name for himself by shaking up the gaming scene. His contentious feud with Google made headlines last year, and Epic Games turned heads again with the implementation of its own innovative online storefront. Sweeney is again getting attention after making the bold proclamation that smartphones will be the future of gaming.

In an interview with Business Insider, Sweeney said that the eventual industry shift toward mobile gaming was inevitable. In the interview, Sweeney asserted that most game companies unjustly view mobile ports of their games as “dumbed-down” versions of the original titles.

Epic Games has been making moves to support handheld gaming for some time now. The studio has long worked to implement effective cross-play mechanics that allow gamers playing Fortnite on mobile to play with console players. This move has been met with varying degrees of success; players have cited a distinct gap in skill level between smartphone users and players on other consoles. This gap seems to be due, at least in part, to the inherent limitations smartphone users must contend with. Namely, the lack of a distinct controller or dedicated hardware means smartphone users will usually be at a disadvantage when matched with console gamers.

Epic Games has also announced the release of the Epic Online Service. This software developer kit would allow creators to implement cross-play functionality in their games, a move designed to encourage more inclusion for smartphone gamers.

Sweeney’s words aren’t entirely without merit. A new generation of gaming smartphones is hitting the market, such as the newly released Black Shark 2. Google has also turned its attention to smartphone gaming with the announcement of its new Stadia gaming platform. In addition to PCs and TVs, players will be able to use Stadia to stream triple-A games directly to their smartphone’s browser window. Only time will tell if Sweeney is correct in his predictions.
