Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood is one of the most celebrated films of Quentin Tarantino’s recent career. It’s no wonder. Its reflection of Hollywood, the 60s, the Manson family, and Los Angeles in general is interesting, bold, and no less controversial. That’s why cinephiles and viewers in general are eagerly awaiting its sequel, The Adventures of Cliff Booth. It has finally received a release date.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth will hit IMAX theaters worldwide on November 25 for just two weeks. This is Netflix’s standard theatrical release contract for films they believe have a chance in the awards circuit and need at least that time in theaters to be considered for the Oscars. This is why we will be able to enjoy this movie in theaters for two weeks and on streaming on Netflix starting December 23.
That doesn’t mean we will see another Tarantino movie. On the contrary. The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be directed by another of the great directors of our time: David Fincher. With Brad Pitt returning to the lead role and the inclusion of cinematographer Eric Messerschmidt and composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross ensuring that this will be a memorable experience.
Although there is still quite a bit of time until the movie’s premiere, there is no doubt that it will be one of the major cinematic events of the year. And although with its limited release it will not compete for the top spot of the highest-grossing films of the year, something it could do under different circumstances, it is undeniable that it will make its way onto many lists of the best films of the year. So we will have to keep an eye on what David Fincher offers us in his vision of this unique Tarantino film.
