Kia continues to make waves in the electric vehicle market, with its EV3 model recognized as the best-selling retail EV in the UK for 2024.
This remarkable achievement has contributed to Kia’s strongest sales performance since its inception 34 years ago, with the company recording 772,351 vehicle sales globally in Q1 2024, marking its best start since 1962.
In March alone, Kia sold nearly 20,000 vehicles in the UK, making it the fourth best-selling brand and the second top-seller of electrified vehicles, including EVs, PHEVs, and HEVs.
772,351 Global Vehicle Sales
Electric models comprised 21% of Kia’s UK sales in March, with over 7,000 electric cars sold, a nearly 50% increase compared to the same quarter last year. The EV3 particularly stood out, maintaining its title as the UK’s most popular retail EV and the fourth best-selling EV overall.
The Kia EV3 is priced starting at £33,005 ($42,500) and offers two battery options: a 58.3 kWh pack providing a WLTP range of 430 km (270 miles) and an 81.48 kWh pack extending that range to 599 km (375 miles).
As Kia looks to capitalize on this momentum, it plans to launch additional electric models in the UK, including the EV4 sedan and hatchback, and the EV5 SUV later this year. The company also emphasizes its ambition to lead in the electric van market with its new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) business, beginning with the PV5 van.
Looking ahead, Kia has announced that the EV3 is expected to roll out in the United States by mid-2026, allowing American consumers to experience what has rapidly become a key player in the competitive electric marketplace.
