After months of receiving “Overwhelmingly Negative” reviews on Steam, it seems that Monster Hunter Wilds has managed to climb to a “Mostly Negative” status in its recent reviews. However, the road to improvement remains long, especially regarding the PC version of the game.

An absolute disaster in the technical aspect

Since February, fans have been asking Capcom to fix the performance issues related to the PC version. Despite the developers releasing several patches, many of the inconveniences persist. Although a significant update was implemented at the end of June, it was not enough to change the overall perception of all players.

The Steam page for Monster Hunter Wilds reflects a slight improvement in reviews, but it can still be observed that many players remain critical of the performance on PC. One user reported that the game “starts well, but the screen is completely black during cutscenes,” indicating that there are serious issues affecting the gaming experience. Another comment, more sarcastic, suggests that now would be “a good time to play Monster Hunter World instead,” which shows a negative comparison with its predecessor.

Despite these criticisms, there has been an increase in positive reviews, with some players claiming that it is a game in which one can easily invest hundreds of hours, although this depends on whether their PC can run the game properly. A fan expressed that “Monster Hunter Wilds deserves better reviews,” describing it as “incredible.” As the comments become more mixed, there are hopes that future updates will improve the reception of the game and lead it to receive “Mixed” or even “Positive” reviews.

Monster Hunter Wilds won't be released until 2025, but you'll be able to try it before the end of the month

Monster Hunter is Capcom’s golden goose. Even when we in the West knew nothing about the franchise, it was already a massive success in Japan, capable of bringing the country to a standstill. Monster Hunter Wilds won't be released until 2025, but you'll be able to try it before the end of the month

Monster Hunter is Capcom’s golden goose. Even when in the West we knew nothing about the franchise, in Japan it was already a resounding success capable of paralyzing the country. And since Monster Hunter World, as demonstrated by Monster Hunter Rise, that is no different outside its country of origin either. That’s why it shouldn’t surprise us that Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the most anticipated games of 2025. Or that Capcom has decided to give it special attention.

From the Japanese company, they have announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will have an open beta before the end of October. PlayStation 5 users with a PlayStation Plus membership will be able to play it early, from October 28 to 30. Those playing on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and PlayStation 5 players without PlayStation Plus will be able to play from October 31 to November 3.

Amidst all this, Capcom has announced several important details. The first is that it will not be necessary to have any kind of subscription, neither to PlayStation Plus nor to Game Pass, to be able to play the game. The second is that the game has crossplay, meaning that players from different versions of the game can play together. The third is that everyone who plays will receive a decorative item as a gift for the final version of the game, and they will also be able to keep all their progress made in the beta.

This open beta will include three complete experiences: character creation, basic tutorials, and hunting a Doshaguma. Something that can be experienced solo, with the help of NPCs, or with the assistance of other players.

All of this has been accompanied by the fifth trailer of the game, The Fifth Flame, along with a very interesting piece of news: there will be a limited edition DualSense controller and custom covers for PlayStation 5 of Monster Hunter Wilds. However, for now, they have only been announced for Japan. We hope they will also be available in the West when the game is released globally on February 28, 2025.
