The series Gen V, the beloved spin-off of The Boys, will not have a third season despite its popularity and the positive reception from fans.
According to a report from Variety, Amazon Prime Video’s decision is due to a drop in viewership recorded during the second season, which did not meet the high standards required by the streaming platform. This news surprises many, as Gen V had been praised for its quality and for offering a different tone than the original series.
There will be no more Gen V
Although Gen V is coming to an end, the characters from the series will not disappear from the universe of The Boys. Creators Eric Kripke and Adam Goldberg have confirmed that they will continue the stories of the protagonists in the highly anticipated fifth season of The Boys, as well as in other related projects within the VCU (The Boys Universe).
The characters are expected to debut starting from episode 5 of the upcoming season, which keeps the connection between both productions alive.
Despite the cancellation of Gen V, Amazon continues to invest in The Boys universe with other spin-offs in development, such as Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico, which will premiere next year. This indicates that, although a series may have come to an end, the narrative potential of the world created by Garth Ennis still has much to offer.
Actress Jaz Sinclair, who played Marie Moreau, expressed her gratitude for the experience through her social media, reflecting the passion and dedication the cast has for the series. However, the question remains whether this cancellation is a sign of the beginning of the end for the universe of The Boys or if, on the contrary, there is still life left to explore future narratives.
