Okay, do you want me to tell you what my problem is with the new Scooby-Doo: Origins? No, seriously. After all, the franchise has been around since 1969 and it’s hard to do something new, but you can’t tell how Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, Fred, and Scooby met as teenagers… When the same thing was already told in the late 80s, but with them as kids, in a series titled A Pup Named Scooby-Doo! A little consistency, please!
Scooby-dooby-doo!
This new version of Scooby-Doo, which comes to replace the five live-action movies made between 2002 and 2018 (the last three went straight to television or DVD), will take place on the last day of a camp where a supernatural murder has occurred. Hey, why not? The last time we heard about the Scooby gang was in the HBO series Velma, and that, after all, was absolutely disliked by everyone. They deserve a second chance!
For now, in addition to the first image of the cast, we have been able to take a look at the main dog, and I don’t know if he will solve mysteries, but I want to cuddle him as much as I can. However, there is some bad news: instead of being a simple dog, like in the cartoon versions, here he will talk with the voice of Frank Welker, because we can’t have anything nice.
If there is an audience for a new version of Scooby-Doo or not, I’m afraid that’s something even Netflix doesn’t know. But well, just to try, what is lost beyond time, money, and the legitimacy of a classic franchise?
