Months after its release, what has happened to ‘Silent Hill: Ascension’?

Since the first episode of ‘Ascension’ was released, Konami has found itself entangled in something much worse than fan hatred: absolute indifference.

It was launched as the next vital chapter of the ‘Silent Hill’ saga, but since the first episode of ‘Ascension’ came out, Konami has been involved in something much worse than fan hatred: absolute indifference. The web series in which we can make decisions that change the course of the game has not regained the popularity it had at its launch, back on October 31st of last year… And many believe that it has quietly died.

Silence, hills

Everything points to the fact that the number of views (or games, as you want to call them) of this project has gone in the opposite direction of “ascension”. And, in fact, after episode 8, which was released on December 21st, the developers asked Konami to slow down and release the new episodes more calmly in order to have weekends off. The classic “If no one cares, at least leave us alone”.

And although initially the game was supposed to last six months (each quarter a “game” with different decisions), it is most likely going to be extended to ten so that the creatives can sleep peacefully. But it will not be removed from the Internet even if there are only 5000 people interested around the world for a simple reason: it is already done, and it only needs to be implemented according to the users’ decisions. It will go down in history as one of the most cursed projects in the franchise. And with Kojima’s Silent Hills out there, frankly, it’s commendable.

Silent Hill: Ascension, is it generated by AIs or is it just very poorly done?

Silent Hill: Ascension, is it generated by AIs or is it just very poorly done? The CEO of the company in charge of it has decided to clarify it.

Silent Hill: Ascension was the return to Silent Hill that we all feared, but none of us wanted. With an absolutely terrible user experience and microtransactions that border on the reprehensible, the game is not being the Silent Hill experience that literally no one was looking for. So much so that the people who have decided to dive into it have begun to doubt that it was even made by human beings.

This doesn’t just appear out of nowhere. Much of the community thinks Silent Hill: Ascension is actually written through AI, given how absolutely terrible many scenes are. Characters appearing out of nowhere, saying incongruous things and disappearing. People who react in ways that can’t be called human. And in general, a whole sense of strangeness that, far from seeming intentional, seems to be the result of either a glaring ineptitude or that it is not, in fact, written by a human being.

It hasn’t helped matters that the CEO of Genvid, developers of Silent Hill: Ascension, has stated that they have been experimenting with AIs for their next projects. Including Ascension. Although, in fairness, developers at the studio have claimed that they rejected the use of AI because the results were less than ideal. And the CEO himself, Jacob Nakov, has had to come out swinging.

Nakov has stated that “every single word of Ascension has been written by real people, many of whom have bulging careers in writing, including on titles from Telltale, Pixal, God of War Ragnarok, Resident Evil Village, and more.” Stating that “there are zero words written through AI.”

This has caused the community to have mixed feelings about the whole situation. Many do not believe it and many others believe it and think it is worse to do such a bad job being a human being. In any case, we have no reason to disbelieve Nakov. It is possible that everything in Silent Hill: Ascension was written by a human being. But that doesn’t mean it was written well. Or that it makes any sense at all.

Immerse Yourself in the Nightmarish World of Silent Hill: New Interactive Series Trailer Released

Silent Hill: Ascension has a new trailer to show us what it looks like, what its main themes are, and to leave us with more unknowns than answers.

Silent Hill is a cult series that, after languishing in Konami’s basement for years, has come back to life. And while it’s true that the remake of Silent Hill 2 being developed by Bloober Team has taken all the spotlight, that doesn’t mean it’s the only title in the works. Among others, the interactive series Silent Hill: Ascension is also being developed, and now we have a new trailer for it.

The appeal of this interactive series lies in the power to decide the outcome of each character. In this regard, the team behind the title, Genvid, has stated, “In Silent Hill: Ascension, the actions of millions of people will determine the outcome. By the time the final scene airs, which characters will have survived? Of those who remain, who will be redeemed, who will be condemned, and who will suffer? Even the creators of the project don’t know how Silent Hill: Ascension will end. The fate of its characters is in the hands of the audience.”

After this, all the previously unanswered questions still remain. What is its release date, what is its connection to the rest of the Silent Hill franchise, and particularly, whether this is even a video game. But while they solve all our doubts, we can continue to enjoy this captivating new trailer.
