A director with a Palme d’Or directing a manga
Published in 2021 on the Shonen Jump+ platform, Look Back has resonated with audiences for its emotional storytelling and authentic representation of personal growth. The story follows two girls who dream of becoming manga artists, exploring themes of friendship, perseverance, and the pursuit of creativity. This narrative has captured the interest of both manga fans and critics, generating significant buzz since its release.
Kore-eda’s work is known for its ability to tackle complex themes of human relationships and deep feelings, and his foray into the world of manga promises to offer a new perspective on film adaptation. The acclaimed director has gained wide international recognition, and his involvement has raised expectations around the film, especially given the quality of his previous works.
While few details have been revealed about the cast or the specific plot of the live-action Look Back, manga fans are eager to see how Kore-eda will translate Fujimoto’s emotionally charged story to the big screen. With the strong backing of the manga’s success and the director’s experience, the film is likely to be one of the most anticipated productions in the coming years. However, there is still a long way to go before its final release, and additional details will emerge over time as the release date approaches.

Obviously, you can enjoy other works by the author, Tatsuki Fujimoto. But as a mangaka, it is true that those who only watch anime may feel disappointed for not having anything to sink their teeth into. And those who already read his mangas, if they are up to date with what he has written, may feel the same way. But Fujimoto has written numerous short stories that have now been adapted into anime and will be released in a series that promises us one thing: to tear our hearts out, shatter them, and let us marvel at how it does so in the process.
An anthology that promises to offer us the best of the author
Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 is the name of this anthology released on November 7 on Prime Video. This will be an adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man, which is divided into two parts, 17-21 and 22-26, which will be presented here under the same name.
The uniqueness of the series is that, in the style of Animatrix or Star Wars: Visions, each episode will be directed by a different studio and director. The aim is not to create a unified style, but precisely the opposite. It seeks to emphasize the different aspects of the author’s work, utilizing the strengths of each of those involved to give more weight to each of the chapters.
Composed of eight chapters, the studios involved are Zexcs, Lapin Track, Studio Graph, 100studio, Studio Kafka, and P.A. Works, working on episodes 1, 2 and 3, 4, 5 and 7, 6 and 8 respectively. Among these studios, Lapin Track stands out particularly, having produced the excellent and underrated Sarazanmai and Undead Girl Murder Farce, and P.A. Works, known more recently for the adaptation of Skip and Loafer.
In fact, the episodes with the most potential coincide with those from the most interesting studio. Lapin Track is not only responsible for two very particular chapters, Sasaki Stopped a Bullet and Love is Blind, but both are written by Teruko Utsumi, a capable screenwriter who has worked with the studio before, with the first directed by Nobukage Kimura, an rising star who previously directed I’ve Been Killing Slimes For 300 Years And Maxed Out My Level, and the second by Nobuyuki Takeuchi, a director with nearly 40 years of experience who has worked with legends like Kunihiko Ikuhara and Akiyuki Shinbo.
Even so, it is impossible to know which episode will steal the show. All the studios have good source material, and it is undeniable that they will want to give their all with an author who has proven that, when well adapted, succeeds with everything they release. Therefore, it is to be expected that the series will be among the most talked about of the year.
That’s why you shouldn’t miss Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 for anything in the world. Whether you’re a fan of Chainsaw Man or have never seen it, this is the anime series of the season that you must watch above all others. It’s not just that it has self-contained episodes, but it’s also a perfect gateway into the unique universe of one of today’s most celebrated and beloved authors. This makes it a series that, whether better or worse, is essential for any anime fan. And almost also for those who are not.

Adapting to an audience possibly unfamiliar with the series, the film presents itself as a standalone experience, where it is not necessary to have watched the first season to understand the story that unfolds.
A movie that no fan of the series should miss
The beginning of the movie focuses on the motivations of the demon hunters, with Denji facing his loneliness and romantic frustrations, especially in relation to Makima and Reze. The relationship between Denji and Reze evolves significantly throughout the plot, highlighting a focus on the visual and emotional details that complement the usual frantic action of the original material. Memorable scenes, such as a moment on a date that reveals Denji’s vulnerability, provide an emotional weight that contrasts with the moments of sexualized comedy that, while attempting to provide relief, may not work for all viewers.
Over the course of approximately 100 minutes, the film offers intense action and combat scenes, with dynamic animation that captures the audience’s attention. Despite the graphic violence, the movie maintains a balance by not forgetting the personal evolution of its characters. However, certain moments that seem to anticipate possible sequels feel rushed and could divide the audience regarding their narrative effectiveness.
In summary, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc not only meets the expectations of action and adrenaline, but also delves into an emotionally resonant territory, emphasizing Denji’s quest for personal acceptance. With a renewed focus, the film promises to be an unmissable cinematic experience for both anime fans and new viewers alike.

After several months of uncertainty and rumors, the arrival of one of the most anticipated anime films of the year has been confirmed: Chainsaw Man. This new film, which will cover the next arc of the successful manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, is scheduled for its world premiere on October 29, 2025, as announced by Sony Pictures through its social media.
A movie we have been waiting for years
Despite the global confirmation, Sony’s official account in Spain has opted for a more vague message, mentioning only “Coming Soon,” which has caused some confusion among fans. However, the release date is expected to be the same as internationally. The reasons for this lack of clarity could be related to rights issues and other logistical matters that are still being resolved.
The news of the premiere has been met with enthusiasm in the Chainsaw Man fan community, who have been eager to see the film adaptation of one of the most popular mangas today. Although many wished for an immediate release, the wait seems worth it to obtain a quality experience. It is still to be defined when the movie will be available in digital format; it is estimated that, if all goes as planned, the release for streaming platforms like Crunchyroll could occur in 2026, given that this service is part of Sony and currently holds the rights to the series produced by MAPPA.
With this information, Chainsaw Man positions itself as one of the major events for anime fans in the coming years, and its arrival in theaters promises to be a milestone within the world of Japanese entertainment.
Chainsaw Man has announced that, following the success of its series, it will have a movie adapting one of the arcs and beloved characters by fans.
Beyond the craziness of its plots and the carefulness of its animation, there is one element that has made people fall in love with Chainsaw Man: the charisma of its characters. It’s hard not to be captivated by them. They have their quirks, their weaknesses, and their strengths, feeling fully human. They are not mere fantasies. They are complex individuals, often pathetic, for whom it is easy to feel deep sympathy.
Now Chainsaw Man has announced that it will have its first movie. Called Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, as its name indicates, it will adapt the Reze arc. One that is especially beloved and known by manga readers.
The arc revolves around Reze, a girl whom Denji, the protagonist, will meet and quickly become close to. Focusing on the love story, grievances, and all the drama surrounding both characters, who consider themselves unlovable, the story is particularly dramatic and tragic. With several unexpected twists that slightly change the tone of what has been seen so far in the series.
Adapting it into a movie is particularly interesting because, in fact, the inspiration for this manga arc was a movie. The manga author, Tatsuki Fujimoto, has stated that his main influence for this arc was the movie Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade, by Hiroyuki Okiura and Mamoru Oshii. Something evident given that both works start in a very similar way, besides having a similar tone in certain moments.
We still don’t have more information about the movie, except that the actress who will voice Reze is Reina Ueda. It is expected that the movie will be released, or at least we will have more information, throughout 2024. And if you want to catch up with the series, you have its complete first season available on Crunchyroll.
