We’re in the golden age of video-game adaptations. Just a few months ago, Fallout was released, the Amazon Prime Video series that continues a path of success that had already been traveled by The Last of Us, Sonic, and Super Mario Bros. But there’s another one that is above them all: Arcane.
The 2021 series created jointly by Netflix and Riot Games adapts, as we never imagined, the universe of League Of Legends. Now, we’re eagerly awaiting its second season, announced for November of this year. However, we’ve just received a splash of cold water in the face from the producers: this will be the last season of the series.
Goodbye to Arcane
In an official statement, Riot Games surprised us all when they announced that season 2 will be the last, that they have no plans to continue the story beyond the upcoming episodes. Further, they specified that these were their plans from day one.
With such a great number of characters and places, the series showed every sign of continuing beyond the upcoming season, but alas, it is not to be. A decision which, on the other hand, might be for the best if it keeps the story from getting overstretched.
