Capcom doesn’t know rest. Street Fighter 6 has been a success, and they’re making sure it stays that way by including new characters, without hurry but also without pause. With a seasonal system, where each season introduces a series of characters, they’ve just finished their first season in style with the inclusion of a classic among classics, the fearsome Akuma. But this doesn’t mean that everything is finished for Street Fighter 6.
In preparation for the game’s second season, Capcom revealed during the past Summer Game Fest which characters will be arriving for year two of Street Fighter 6’s Character Pass. All of them are very surprising inclusions that caught fans off guard.
The most surprising change was the inclusion of Terry and Mai, from the Fatal Fury franchise. In the 90s, Fatal Fury from SNK was the big franchise that competed with Street Fighter, and there was a very public rivalry between the developers of both studios. That’s why the appearance of the two most iconic characters from this franchise as guest characters in Street Fighter 6 is, to say the least, surprising. But we’re grateful for the enormous personality and tremendous fandom they bring with them.
From the characters returning from Capcom’s franchise, we saw just as many surprises. Elena returns, whose last appearance was in Ultra Street Fighter IV, and even more surprisingly, M. Bison returns. Deceased in Street Fighter V, M. Bison returns amnesic, with a new, darker aesthetic and a faster fighting style. His appearance here is a nightmare to all Street Fighter players who remember what it means for M. Bison to come back from the dead and show off an agile movement.
If you’re interested in these characters, we already have dates for all of them. M. Bison will arrive this summer, Terry in the fall, Mai in winter 2025, and Elena in spring 2025. This means we already know who will be the main actors in the next season of Street Fighter 6. And we couldn’t be more delighted with this peculiar selection.
