The developer of Ghost of Tsushima does not want to repeat the mistake of Helldivers 2

After the fiasco of Helldivers 2 and its withdrawal from sale in 177 countries due to the mandatory link to PSN, Sucker Punch has come forward to make one thing clear: Ghost of Tsushima will not require a PSN account to play, as long as you don’t touch the online mode.

If your intention is to play Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut from Steam, you can breathe easy: there will be no need to link to PSN. The studio has answered a user’s questions through X and in their message, they state that “it is not necessary to have a PSN account to play the single-player mode“.

In case you want to play the online mode, Legends, that’s a different story: there you will need an account. Sucker Punch explains it like this: “Just so you know, a PSN account is required for the online multiplayer mode Legends and to use the PlayStation overlay”.

Sucker Punch’s response came in response to Sony’s controversial announcement. The company wanted to force players to have a PSN account to play Helldivers 2 on PC. However, the uproar caused has convinced Sony to remove this requirement. After issuing apologies, the company admits that they are still “learning what is best for PC players“.
