Inside System has brought The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4, the latest mainline game in its retro-styled 2D action-platformer series, to PlayStation 5. It’s available now as a digital release for $6.99, £5.79, €6.99, and ¥880. One quick clarification: if you saw earlier reports about the original The Legend of Dark Witch coming to PS5, this release is for Episode 4.
Episode 4 gets compared to Mega Man pretty often, mostly because of its side-scrolling stages, tight platforming, shooting-focused combat, and the way you learn enemy patterns through repetition.
It already came out on Steam and Nintendo Switch, and so far there still haven’t been any widely reported PS5-specific upgrades, performance details, or controller features.
If you skipped The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4 on PC or Switch, there’s a decent case for picking it up here. Inside System says the series first appeared on Nintendo 3DS in 2014 and has sold more than 500,000 copies. In Episode 4, you play as Zizou, gather Tres from defeated enemies to upgrade your abilities, hunt down and destroy Jammers, and use Install Slots and Call Spells to add a little more strategy to the action.
Early response on PC has been solid, with players calling out the controls, challenge, and pixel art in particular. So if retro action-platformers are your thing, Episode 4 looks like a simple, inexpensive addition to Sony’s current console lineup.
You can download The Legend of Dark Witch Episode 4 now from the PlayStation Store on PS5.
