The new installment of Star Wars, titled The Mandalorian and Grogu, marks the franchise’s return to the big screen after seven years. Lucasfilm is preparing a major release, presenting fans with multiple surprises and novelties. In the trailers, various characters have been seen, including a muscular Hutt and adorable Anzellans, as well as a Din Djarin without his mask. However, the real surprises seem to go far beyond what has been shown so far.
A character that fans of the animated series will remember
Among the most exciting revelations is the appearance of Embo, a bounty hunter that fans will remember from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This will be the first time Embo appears in live action, which represents an exciting tribute to fans of the animated series. Alongside him, a nooba named Marrok will be introduced, a canine creature that has made its debut in the world of live action. Despite its threatening appearance, it is clarified that these beings are domesticated and can be pets.
The name Marrok has generated some confusion, as it has recently appeared in other characters within the Star Wars universe, such as the Inquisitor known as the First Brother in Ahsoka. This phonetic coincidence is related to Arthurian legend, where Marrok is a knight who turns into a werewolf, a theme that seems to fascinate Dave Filoni, the creator of The Clone Wars and co-creator of Ahsoka and The Mandalorian. However, it is important to note that this Marrok is not related to the character Antoc Merrick from Rogue One.
With this new project, Lucasfilm reinforces its commitment to expanding the rich narrative tapestry of the Star Wars universe, while the legacy of beloved characters continues to intertwine with innovative new stories. Meanwhile, fans eagerly await the premiere that promises to be a milestone in the saga.
