We are still digesting the price of the PS5 Pro, a console that has been rumored for a year. Yesterday it became a reality, and Mark Cerny was in charge of presenting it to the world. However, amidst the vague presentation, lack of information, and almost non-existent comparisons between PS5 and PS5 Pro games, all attention was focused on one question: the price.
The PS5 Pro will be released on November 7th in a single model without a Blu-ray player or vertical support—that is, it will arrive much less equipped than the launch PS5 in 2020. That’s why everyone was surprised to see the price.
It will be released in the US for $700. If we want to add the disc reader and the vertical stand, the price goes up another $100. It seems like a lot of money for a mid-generation console, right?
Sony wants you to buy a cheap PlayStation 5, you just have to accept that it’s used
In the official PlayStation Direct store, a new offer of refurbished PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition consoles has appeared, and although they are currently not available, the prices seem quite reasonable.
As expected, the most economical option is the refurbished and certified digital edition of PS5, which is priced at $349.99, a significant savings of $100 compared to a new PS5 Digital Edition Slim. The refurbished and certified standard PS5 is also available, which costs $399.99. This represents another $100 savings compared to a new PS5 Slim.
All these certified refurbished products are listed as “coming soon”, so they cannot be purchased yet, and it’s worth noting that it seems to be the release of PS5, not the new PS5 Slim.
However, it seems to be a highly appealing offer compared to most of the competition. And that’s because all the consoles that Sony sells as certified refurbished come with a one-year warranty and free returns, which undoubtedly provides greater peace of mind.
The store page indicates that certified refurbished products, as usual, may have small cosmetic imperfections. Regarding the content of the box, the consoles arrive as if they were new, that is, with all their usual accessories. Undoubtedly, good news for all those who have not yet been able to get a PS5. Let’s hope they arrive soon throughout Europe.
