Squad Busters, from Supercell, has been the hottest topic in recent weeks, since its Early Access release in April. Now, that early access period comes to an end as the game is officially released today, May 29, 2024.
The game is the first from Supercell in five years to go this far, as the studio has become synonymous with eliminating titles that it believes would not have enough success under launch conditions. Along the way, several projects have died.
How has Squad Busters performed in its pre-launch period? In summary, Squad Busters has made money: $2.04 million, according to estimates from AppMagic.
Although it is far from the figures of Clash of Clans ($79 million in the same period), it is not insignificant for a game that has not even been released yet.
Number of players and pre-registrations for Squad Busters
Those analyses also indicate that 5.25 million people have already downloaded Squad Busters, while Supercell has confirmed over 30 million pre-registrations for the global version to date.
With great tact, pre-registrations are being encouraged with the promise of rewards not only in Squad Busters, but also in established Supercell titles. And the more people sign up for Squad Busters, the greater the rewards will be.
The goal of Supercell is to reach 40 million pre-registrations, the same number as the upcoming Zenless Zone Zero from HoYoverse, and among the games that will benefit from this are all the active games already published by Supercell: Clash of Clans, Brawl Stars, Boom Beach, Clash Royale, and Hay Day. And, of course, Squad Busters.
In the final stretch and going for a historic premiere
With over 30 million pre-registrations, the rewards for Squad Busters currently include 10,000 coins, El Tigre, three chests, and an exclusive emote. If tomorrow we reach 40 million, players will also receive an exclusive decoration. And that decoration will also appear in all other games that receive support through the promotion: an additional advertising boost.
From its launch territories, Squad Busters has its largest audience in Mexico, where it represents 44% of the downloads. 29% of the players come from Spain and 11% from Canada. However, the latter is currently the biggest spender, as Canadian players have contributed 29% of the earnings (approximately $600,000) since April 24th.
Just like in the download ranking, Spain occupies the second place during the launch period, contributing with 26% of the earnings (approximately $530,000), while Mexico occupies the third place with only 17% (approximately $350,000).
Squad Busters has also been successful in Singapore, Finland, Sweden, and the United States, but now that it’s about to be released, Supercell has gathered a star-studded cast for another promotional campaign. From Ken Jeong to Chris Hemsworth, it seems like everyone is getting ready to play.
