The next actors’ and writers’ strike will have AI as the absolute star, and not just in a supporting role like in the last one. After all, everyone has an opinion on it: some have rushed to set up companies so as not to be left behind, others have refused to use it at all and even production companies that champion craftsmanship like A24 have ended up giving in to AI. Of course, Nicolas Cage, man of the people, couldn’t be left behind.
Nicolas Cage against AI. Fight!
The actor has revealed the reasons why Amazon Prime Video has decided not to move forward with a season 2 of Spider-Noir, and seeing the direction Jeff Bezos’s company is taking, it won’t surprise you: “Amazon is a company that is very bullish on AI because they invested 50 billion dollars in OpenAI. I’m not an actor who supports it, so, connect the dots! I’m not a member of their club”.
Cage knows that a gigantic door has closed, but he doesn’t care: “I didn’t give permission for them to use AI in Spider-Noir. I probably won’t work with that studio again, but I’m fine with that”. I mean, he makes it pretty clear to us that Amazon, flat-out, uses AI in practically all its projects, for better or worse. It is what it is.
Ever since Cage saw himself as Superman via AI in The Flash, he’s been openly against AI, which gives us, at the very least, one certainty: we’ll never see a Cage movie that uses AI left and right. It gives me a certain zen peace of mind in this age of AI in absolutely everything, what can I tell you.
