We thought Cyberpunk 2077 was dead… until today

Cyberpunk 2077 game director Gabe Amatangelo said the studio was not planning any further major updates to the title.

When the CD Projekt Red team announced the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, we all understood that, from the Polish studio’s perspective, the game had reached its conclusion.

Indeed, labeling something as the “Ultimate Edition” implies finality. Typically, releasing a version like that suggests there won’t be further updates, improvements, or patches. But it seems the concept might differ in Poland, and it can be a bit puzzling for us.

However, we won’t complain because anything that’s free and enhances a game deserves praise and gratitude. It’s evident that CD Projekt Red is dedicated to completely resolving the issues that arose from the game’s launch back in 2020.

What does patch 2.1 bring to Cyberpunk 2077?

CD Projekt has announced that next week they will release an update for Cyberpunk 2077 that will include “new and anticipated gameplay elements.”

Update 2.1 will be released alongside the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on December 5th.

The Quest Director, Paweł Sasko, and the Producer, Monika Janowska, will discuss the update in a live Twitch stream on December 1st.

CD Projekt announced the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition earlier this month. This edition, comprising the base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion, will be released in both digital and physical formats in selected markets for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

After selling three million copies in the first week following its late-September launch, CD Projekt declared this week that the game’s sole expansion has surpassed 4.3 million sales in its first two months.

In September, the game director of Cyberpunk 2077, Gabe Amatangelo, mentioned that the studio didn’t plan any more major updates for the title. They were focusing attention on other projects, including the sequel to the game, which is now entering development at CD Projekt’s North American studios.
