PlatinumGames has shared a small update on Nintendo Switch 2 and Bayonetta. In a joint discussion connected to the Bayonetta costumes coming to Stellar Blade, PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba said the studio doesn’t have a game on Nintendo’s new hardware yet, even though he thinks it has “so much potential.”
On Bayonetta, Inaba said during the discussion that he wants to keep building Bayonetta as a character and push her world further. Once the talk turned to specifics about the next entry, though, the answer was a flat “no comment.” So no, this isn’t Bayonetta 4 news, even if PlatinumGames still sounds upbeat about Nintendo Switch 2, usual new-hardware headaches and all.
There’s a little more context around where this came from. The comments were part of a joint discussion with Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung Tae, again tied to those Bayonetta costumes in Stellar Blade, and they arrive after Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames in September 2023 to start Clovers.
If you’ve been following the series, this is the part that stands out. It suggests Bayonetta hasn’t been put on the shelf, that PlatinumGames’ relationship with Nintendo still matters after Bayonetta 2, Bayonetta 3, and Bayonetta Origins, and that Bayonetta 3 had sold more than 1.07 million copies worldwide by March 2023, based on figures PlatinumGames had already shared.
You can still read the interview online, but at the moment there’s nothing new to download for Nintendo Switch 2, and no new Bayonetta game to point to either.
