It’s official: the legendary shooter from 343 Industries is definitively saying goodbye to seasons. The news was made public during the first Halo Infinite community event of this 2024, which was livestreamed on January 19th.
During said event, 343 Industries also announced the arrival of one of the most important and biggest updates in the game’s history. Some of its novelties include a new map, new Operations, and the arrival of the Mark IV armor, among others. However, the news that managed to attract the most attention was undoubtedly the end of the seasons.
Attention! This does not mean that they abandon the game to its fate. The farewell to seasons has made the team behind Halo Infinite focus their efforts on a new front: Operations. This game mode was first introduced in November 2023 and consists of small free content updates that last for weeks.
Despite receiving less content than a regular Season, Operations are updates that also arrive much faster to the game (every six weeks).
But what was the reason for 343 Industries to get rid of the seasons? Brian Jarrard, community director, tried to clarify the issue in the last broadcast. He explained that they have “a dedicated team to support Halo Infinite” but they also have “other teams that are speeding up to the future working on completely new projects“. Will there be a new Halo on the way?
