Prime Video is preparing to present the first trailer for its new original Italian series, titled Hotel Costiera, at the renowned Taormina Film Festival, which will take place in Sicily. This film event is known for being a showcase of relevant productions, and the series promises to be one of the highlighted announcements.

Welcome to the hotel

The ingenuity behind Hotel Costiera features the participation of Jesse Williams, the talented actor known for his role in Grey’s Anatomy, who not only plays the lead but also serves as the executive producer of the project. Williams brings his experience both in front of and behind the camera, adding an extra appeal to the series.

Directed by Adam Bernstein, an acclaimed Emmy winner for his work on 30 Rock and Fargo, Hotel Costiera is a high-end action drama that includes comedic elements. This combination of genres suggests a narrative that could capture the attention of different audiences, presenting a light tone amidst the intense action that characterizes Bernstein’s productions.

The series is conceived in English, which makes it accessible to an international audience. The preview will be showcased for the first time in a context that celebrates cinema, which will undoubtedly generate great anticipation among both festival attendees and fans of Prime Video productions.

This launch at the Taormina Film Festival could also be the beginning of a strategy to position more original Italian content on the platform, coinciding with a growing demand for well-produced international series. As the presentation date approaches, fans and critics will eagerly await to see how this promising collaboration unfolds.

Amazon wants its customers to pay the new Prime Video fee in the most frugal way

Amazon has confirmed that it is not an error: your subscription to Amazon Prime Video no longer includes Dolby Vision HDR or Dolby Atmos surround sound.

A few months ago, we found out that Amazon was going to launch a new fee within Prime Video that would cost 2.99 euros, in addition to the traditional Amazon Prime subscription. According to the company, this would allow them to continue creating excellent exclusive movies and series.

Amazon Prime Video DOWNLOAD

And for those who don’t want to pay, Amazon offered the option to continue enjoying the streaming service… with ads, just like Netflix and Disney+ already do with their cheaper rates: you pay less, therefore you see ads. It makes sense for them.

What we didn’t see coming is that Amazon is going to play dirty in this case, removing one of the best video features of the service for all those who don’t pay the extra 2.99 € per month.

Goodbye to Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on Prime Video

Amazon has confirmed that it is not an error: your subscription to Amazon Prime Video no longer includes Dolby Vision HDR or Dolby Atmos surround sound. This adds to the announcements that Amazon introduced to the service on January 29th. Now, if you pay $2.99 per month to remove those ads, you can also regain Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

This is what 4KFilme says, who discovered that their Sony, LG, and Samsung TVs are now displaying content in HDR10 with Dolby Digital 5.1 instead of the higher fidelity options they had previously enjoyed.

Katie Barker, spokesperson for Amazon, confirmed to The Verge that this is a deliberate measure: “Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos capabilities are only available in the ad-free option, on relevant titles”.

Although price increases are no longer remotely unusual in the streaming video space, where Netflix now charges $22.99 per month for its 4K tier, comparing Amazon’s prices to Netflix’s is a bit more difficult.

At first, Amazon Prime Video was only available as part of a global subscription to Amazon Prime: I have Amazon Prime because I mainly pay 45 euros per year to get free one-day shipping. Now I would have to pay an additional 18% to get the full experience of The Rings of Power without ads and with complete fidelity.

Amazon Prime Video DOWNLOAD

Prime Video is also available as a standalone subscription for $8.99 per month; if you subscribe that way and add $2.99 per month, it’s more of a 28 percent price increase.

If you prefer ads, the $8.99 per month of Prime Video is one dollar less than Disney Plus with ads at $9.99 per month, although Netflix currently offers its service in Full HD with ads at $6.99 per month.

The first trailer for the Fallout series is everything we asked Amazon for

Amazon just released the first trailer for its live-action adaptation of Fallout, and it begins much like the games: a vault…

After seeing the first photos of the Fallout series, many of us knew that Amazon was going all-in. The aesthetics, the lighting, the actors… everything conveyed quality and affection for a saga that is sacred to millions of players.

After months of terrible waiting, Amazon has just released the first trailer for its live-action adaptation of Fallout, and it starts very similarly to the games: a vault dweller leaves the comfort of their home to explore the dangerous post-apocalyptic wasteland outside.

Synopsis of the Fallout series

This time, the inhabitant of the vault is named Lucy (played by Ella Purnell), and in the brief trailer, she experiences many of the game’s key moments. That includes horribly mutated animals, destroyed cities, the Brotherhood of Steel, uprisings in the vaults, some shootouts in the Wild West, and a very good dog that also happens to be a killer.

And, of course, classic songs aren’t missing: in this case, “I Don’t Want To See Tomorrow” by Nat King Cole. The series is set 200 years after the apocalypse; in fact, the trailer ends with the nuclear explosion that changes the world forever.

The series also stars Walton Goggins as Ghoul, Aaron Moten as Maximus, and other familiar faces like Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) and Zach Cherry (Severance).

In addition to the cast, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy from Westworld serve as executive producers, alongside Todd Howard, head of Bethesda. Fallout was officially announced in 2020, but it wasn’t until last year that Amazon started to unveil details about it.

Earlier this week, the American company revealed the first images from the series. Fallout will premiere on Prime Video on April 12, 2024, marking it as the first major new Fallout story since the troubled release of Fallout 76 in 2018. Meanwhile, Bethesda has been working on other universes, including their science fiction epic, Starfield.

We already have the first images of the Amazon series Fallout

When we learned that Amazon was going to produce a series based on the Fallout universe, the expectation was total. Now with the photos, we can say…

When it was announced, many of us cheered with joy and excitement. In this new era of audiovisual content, where four major companies are vying with each other, adaptations of books and video games for the small screen are more sought after than ever before.

In the gaming world, the Fallout saga is among the most beloved, for many reasons. That’s why when we learned that Amazon was going to produce a series based on the Fallout universe, the excitement was through the roof.

And today, a few months after its announcement, we have the first images from the filming. We don’t want to jump the gun, but the look of it is incredible.

What will this series called Fallout be about?

In the new series, which will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on April 12, a nuclear war breaks out on Earth in the year 2077, in an era of robots, hover cars, and a deep and enduring nostalgia for the United States of the forties. This is exclusively reported by Vanity Fair.

Everything, from clothing to entertainment, including vehicles, mimics the appearance of that past era, albeit with a touch of science fiction. That retro-futuristic aesthetic was one of the charms of the successful video game series that inspired the show.

The mass extinction is just the starting point of the Fallout series, developed for television by the creators of Westworld, Jonathan Nolan, and Lisa Joy.

Following the fiery clouds, the story progresses 219 years. How did humanity fare in those two centuries? Lucy, one of the protagonists (portrayed by Ella Purnell), has no clue. She has lived her entire life inside an underground chamber, where all her needs and desires have been met while generations await the day it’s safe to venture to the surface.

When a crisis forces Lucy on a rescue mission, she discovers that the planet remains a hellish landscape plagued by giant insects, ravenous mutant creatures described as “abominations,” and a human population of sun-scorched miscreants who make the manners, morals, and hygiene of an Old West gunslinger seem akin to Downton Abbey.

Lucy is friendly but naive. In the Fallout universe, those lucky enough to survive the apocalypse in underground communities only had that option because they had money.

Forcing innocent Lucy into this sadistic and Darwinian remnant of civilization opens the door for Fallout to explore social satire, action, and adventure. Similar to the success of HBO’s The Last of Us, also adapted from a highly successful video game, the end of the world provides a significant opportunity to comment on the real world.

Do you like Gen V? Here are the best series of this style to watch now

If you are looking for more superheroes of the style, but that are not The Boys, here are five series that you should watch right now, from each platform.

It’s been the breakthrough series of the year. Some even believe it’s better than The Boys itself, the series from which it has emerged as a spin-off. If we look at the ratings, this is the case.

Amazon Prime Video DOWNLOAD

Gen V is the new Prime Video series set in the brutal world of The Boys. Just like its parent series, Gen V draws inspiration from the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, specifically the storyline ‘We Gotta Go Now.’

The plot revolves around a group of young superheroes or ‘supes’ who are forced to fight in real battles at the Godolkin College of Crimefighting, run by Vought International.

If you’re looking for more superheroes in a similar vein but unrelated to The Boys, here are five series you should watch to satisfy that craving. These series are fascinating, intelligent, visually striking, and just as memorable as Gen V.

Best series to watch now, similar to Gen V style

Doom Patrol

Based on Grant Morrison’s work on the superhero team of the same name, Doom Patrol is one of the most surprising superhero series currently airing on HBO Max. Here we are talking about the DC Universe.

The series follows the adventures of the Doom Patrol, a team of superheroes who gained their powers under tragic circumstances. Rejected by society, they investigate the inexplicable phenomena of the world until their leader, the Chief, mysteriously disappears, sending them into action.

Both Gen V and Doom Patrol focus on superhero groups, exploring their broken psyche and the damage inflicted on them by their superhuman abilities. They use dark humor to address potentially unsettling and disturbing themes without forgetting the inherent exaggerated aspect of their genre.

Peacemaker

John Cena reprises his role as Peacemaker in the 2022 series of the same name by James Gunn. A sequel to the 2021 film Suicide Squad, Peacemaker follows the character as he is forced to join the mysterious “Project Butterfly,” an A.R.G.U.S. covert operations squad with a mission to save the world from an alien invasion.

Peacemaker, or The Pacifier, is a perfect companion to Gen V. Both series follow the same pattern of chaos and unhinged humor, featuring violent action sequences, foul language, and charming performances.

Peacemaker benefits from the distinctive style of DC’s new head, James Gunn, blending dark and shocking humor with genuine heart and seriousness. The result is a unique superhero series that defies expectations, turning a D-list character into a standout star.

The Umbrella Academy

“The Umbrella Academy” is one of the best and most consistent series on Netflix. A cast of actors stars in the story of a dysfunctional group of adopted superhero siblings who reunite after their father’s death to prevent an imminent apocalypse.

The series incorporates multiple science fiction tropes, such as time travel and alternate timelines.

Like many other superhero series, “The Umbrella Academy” often bites off more than it can chew. However, it remains daring, original, and impressive, with stellar performances, high production values, and an increasingly compelling plot.

It might lack the overt violence of Gen V, but both series focus on the bonds created among superhero teams. “The Umbrella Academy” has more heart, but its biting wit is equally impressive.

Watchmen

Oscar winner Regina King stars in “Watchmen,” a quasi-sequel to Alan Moore’s 1986 graphic novel and one of HBO’s best superhero shows.

Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the series follows several characters as they confront a radicalized group of white supremacists, the Seventh Kavalry, and uncover a conspiracy related to Doctor Manhattan and the original hero, Hooded Justice.

Smart and filled with social commentary on racial relationships, “Watchmen” is a worthy continuation of Moore’s groundbreaking story. King confidently directs an impressive cast, including Oscar winner Jeremy Irons and Emmy winner Jean Smart.

Although much less violent than “The Boys” and “Gen V,” “Watchmen” offers a thoughtful and nuanced view of superheroes that will satisfy fans of the beloved Prime Video franchise.

Ending the screenwriters’ strike: What do we know about their new conditions?

The end of the strike is official. After almost five months of hiatus, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have reached an agreement.

The end of the strike is official. After nearly five months of hiatus, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have reached an agreement.

The Boards of Directors of WGA West and the council of Writers Guild of America East voted unanimously to authorize the return of writers to work. The measure will take effect as of midnight Wednesday, and therefore, the provisional agreement negotiated with Hollywood studios has been accepted.

The union has clarified that the agreement will now proceed to a vote and subsequent ratification among guild members. This vote will take place between October 2 and October 9. The WGA has stated that this new agreement will be in effect from September 25, 2023, to May 1, 2026.

This agreement between the WGA and the AMPTP was finalized on Sunday after 146 days of writers’ protests outside production offices in Los Angeles and New York. However, the strike that has not yet ended is the one involving actors.

Many members of SAG-AFTRA joined the fight on July 14 after failed negotiations with the AMPTP. Their demands are very similar to those of the writers, and they are advocating for legislation regarding the use of artificial intelligence, among other issues.

Against Artificial Intelligence

Some of the most notable achievements of the new agreement include a 26% increase in royalty income and protective measures related to the unauthorized use of artificial intelligence.

Among the new terms of this contract, there are some very interesting points, such as AI not being able to usurp a writer’s credits. Companies also cannot require the use of tools like ChatGPT for writing.

Amazon Prime Drops Exciting Trailer for Highly Anticipated Spin-Off Series

Amazon Prime debuts a trailer for the spin-off of its most popular series, The Boys, offering us a first look before its final season

If Amazon Prime Video has a surefire hit, it’s “The Boys.” No other series has managed to create the impact that this adaptation of Garth Ennis’ comic has generated, and not without good reasons. Besides being an adaptation that noticeably improves upon the original material, the three seasons so far have skillfully crafted their own perspective on superheroes while maintaining a comical, highly critical take on our present world, all the while remaining thoroughly entertaining. This has earned them the development of their universe beyond the main series.

Gen V is a spinoff of The Boys that takes place at Godolkin University, a university for students with superpowers where they all compete against each other to become the next big superhero. With less focus on their studies and more on becoming the next member of The Seven, what matters at Godolkin University is the ranking of the top students and climbing up that ladder.

The protagonist is Marie Moreau, portrayed by Jaz Sinclair, who had a brief cameo in the third season of The Boys. She is a girl with the ability to manipulate her own blood and joins Godolkin University, probably without fully knowing everything that happens with Compound V and The Seven. Among her classmates, there are intriguing characters such as Andre Anderson, who can manipulate metal; Jordan Li, with super strength and the ability to change gender; and Golden Boy, who not only possesses thermo-nuclear abilities but is also the favorite to join The Seven and is played by Patrick Schwarzenegger, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The recently released trailer shows that the tone of Gen V is indeed very much in line with The Boys, but it also reminds us a bit of other popular current series, such as Élite. This should come as no surprise, considering everything unfolds in a university where studying is the least important thing, and murder and conspiracies are commonplace.

The first three episodes of Gen V will premiere on September 19th on Prime Video. If you’re a fan of The Boys and have been enjoying playing with them in Call of Duty, we highly recommend not missing its premiere, or you might find yourself overwhelmed with entertainment. And that’s because just five weeks later, on November 3rd, the final season of The Boys will premiere, undoubtedly making it one of the best audiovisual works of the year.

Amazon Prime Video DESCARGAR

Prime Video showcases a revered anime: 5 reasons to watch.

Paranoia Agent is a cult anime and now it's coming to Amazon Prime Video, to encourage you to watch it, we give you five reasons why you shouldn't miss it

Paranoia Agent is one of the most unique series in the history of modern anime. Referred to on more than a few occasions as the Twin Peaks of anime, it should come as no surprise that it has behind it a cult phenomenon that is more present among film and television fans than among otaku and anime fans in general. Paranoia Agent is not your typical anime series. It’s not what you think of when we talk about anime. Or not the first thing you think of.

Created by Satoshi Kon, a renowned anime director of worldwide prestige who left us prematurely on August 24, 2010 -of which I also wrote a book-, the series condenses all the obsessions of its author. Metafiction. The difference between reality and what happens in people’s minds, if such a difference exists. The interest in the female characters. His warm, human look, always ready to make a deep portrait of the psychology of his characters.

Prime Video DOWNLOAD

So, because you shouldn’t miss Paranoia Agent now that it’s premiering on Amazon Prime Video, we’re going to give you five reasons why you should watch it. Five specific reasons why you should drop everything you’re doing and go running to see this masterpiece not only of anime, but of modern television in general. Because Paranoia Agent is the demonstration that Satoshi Kon was capable of embroidering the best audiovisual fiction.

Describes our society by telling us interconnected stories

If there is something undeniable about all of Satoshi Kon’s work, it is that he is very interested in the behavior of human beings. How we think, how we relate to reality and how that affects us and our environment. That’s something that in Paranoia Agent he took a step further, dedicating entire episodes, and the series itself, to how society’s ideas can end up shaping reality. Both in people’s private lives and in society itself.

This takes shape in different episodes in different ways. Although the whole plot revolves around this idea, it is best if we give examples of a few particular episodes so as not to gut the whole series. For example, in the second episode, a sixth-grade boy goes from being extremely popular to being absolutely marginalized by being associated with the boy with in-line skates and a golden baseball bat who assaults a woman in the first episode. Similarly, in the ninth episode a group of housewives share stories about that same boy, clearly made up, only to disbelieve the otherwise true stories of another housewife who does not belong to their clique.

All of this ends up connecting to the overall plot in different ways, threading it all together both narratively and philosophically. And that’s one of the most fascinating things about Paranoia Agent. How Satoshi Kon managed to make a series that manages to introduce us to unique conflicts in each episode that feel important in their own right and speak to us about social problems that we know and understand, but also form a larger picture of our problems as a society.

Shows his story (does not tell it) through his villain

Because the story of Paranoia Agent is the story of its villain. A guy always smiling, with golden roller skates, a bat bent in half equally golden, and homicidal ambitions with the protagonists of each particular episode. For what reason? That’s something the story never explicitly tells us. It doesn’t need to. It prefers to do something much better: it shows us.

Satoshi Kon took the maxim “don’t tell, show” to heart his whole life. That’s why the guy with the golden bat doesn’t give speeches. No one explains his behavior. And the only explanations for his behavior come from clearly delusional characters. His behavior is understood as soon as we think about who he assaults, what happens when those people are assaulted and what happens in the last episodes, when the other main characters manage to run away from him.

Paranoia Agent does not leave no stone unturned. Everything is connected. Nothing is explained, but the attentive viewer will know everything that has happened and why. Is it a difficult series? Not necessarily. But it’s not a series to watch in your sleep. That’s why the opening is thunderous and the ending is almost a lullaby: Satoshi Kon wanted to wake us up before it started and send us to sleep at the end of each episode. Because Paranoia Agent should be lived like that. Almost like a dream.

Jack Ryan’s Final Season Premiere Date Announced by Prime Video

Jack Ryan returns with his fourth and final season to Prime Video, now with a final date and the promise of the same fast-paced action as always.

Jack Ryan is back. After the conclusion of its third season on Prime Video last December 21, fans had been waiting for news about the date of the fourth and final season of the adventures of this CIA analyst played by John Krasinski. Now, among other news, we have a concrete date. The final season of Jack Ryan will begin airing on June 30 on Prime Video, with two episodes available every Friday, concluding on July 14.

Amazon Prime Video DOWNLOAD

For those who don’t know it, the series follows the adventures of Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst who has no problem doing whatever it takes to get to the bottom of any problem in order to protect his country. Focusing each season on a different conspiracy, with the first focusing on the war on terror, the second on a political war in Venezuela, and the third on a bizarre plot to bring back the former Soviet Union, from this fourth season we only know that Jack Ryan, now as deputy director of the CIA, will have to expose the internal corruption of his own agency. Exposing the country’s own weaknesses in the process.

Although we don’t know how the series will end, we do know that this won’t be the last time we’ll see Jack Ryan on our screens. Krasinski is the fifth actor to play Tom Clancy’s famous character – who made his first appearance in the novel The Hunt for Red October, published in 1984 – and it’s doubtful that he’ll be the last. So, although the series has already headed into its final stretch, his fans have nothing to fear: Jack Ryan lives on in his dozens of novels to be adapted.
