A recent discovery suggests that Fallout 76 will finally incorporate a pet system, continuing the long tradition of the Fallout saga. In 2021, Bethesda and the Fallout 76 team announced this feature, but the pandemic and other factors delayed its implementation. Now, it seems the feature is about to be integrated into the game.
A Fallout 76 dataminer known as SugarBombsRADS posted a series of clues in the Fallout 76 Datamining community on Discord indicating that Bethesda’s pet system might be almost finished. Initially announced in the 2021 roadmap, the feature seemed to have been put aside. However, the resurgence of interest in the game and increased funding might’ve reactivated its development.
In reality, pets and companions have been fundamental elements in the Fallout saga since the first game, where our beloved Meatball could already accompany us. But, to our dismay, Fallout 76 so far only offers us a rudimentary animal-taming system that allows you to turn random monsters into friendly NPCs that roam the player’s base… and die after a few confrontations with enemies. Now, an image extracted in this data mining shows a possible tutorial for a new pet system, as well as a series of animal icons.

In addition, the same data extracted in this prospecting suggests the introduction of 4-star legendary items. Until now, players could only obtain 3-star legendary items, although the interface allowed up to 5 stars. A 4-star rarity would offer not only more damage on weapons, but also the possibility of adding unique accessories to weapons and armor.
Heavily criticized at its launch for its numerous bugs and terrible customer service, Fallout 76 seems to have risen from ashes thanks to its numerous updates and improvements, also receiving a great boost from the Fallout series, available on Amazon Prime Video.
