Today’s total eclipse can also be seen… in Fortnite and Minecraft

Starting at 7:30 PM (Spanish time), you’ll also be able to enjoy the eclipse in question. Undoubtedly, the most media-covered eclipse in history. A 2.0 eclipse, indeed.

This is the total eclipse that more people are going to see in recent history. In Spain we are barely going to catch a glimpse of it, but in the United States it is going to leave several states in complete darkness, and they have the cultural hegemony, so if you live in another country, don’t worry, because starting at 19:30 (Spanish time) you will also be able to enjoy the eclipse in question. Undoubtedly, the most media-covered in history. An eclipse 2.0, indeed.

Twinkle, Twinkle, little star

Until 2044, they say, we won’t have a new total eclipse like this in North America, and then no one knows how we will be (spoiler: if we continue like this, bad), so the NASA has decided to go all out so that no one misses out on the big moment… And it will make both ‘Minecraft’ and ‘Fortnite’ have events aimed at educating children about the historic moment they are going to experience. Educational games, just what kids want.

In ‘Minecraft’ there will be a game mode called “Look up!” where players must escape from the Moon and reach Earth before the eclipse occurs by solving questions related to the world of eclipses and solving puzzles. If this doesn’t make kids stop playing for a while and go outside to touch grass, I don’t know what will.

On the other hand, in ‘Fortnite’ the eclipse has entered the game itself, and players will be able to go to different areas than normal that can be accessed through the eclipse cycle itself. Originally, in addition, NASA was going to broadcast the eclipse on Twitch, but finally it has decided that the one in charge of broadcasting it will be the National Esports Association. No one said that 2024 was going to be easy to understand.

Yes, despite everything, if you are in Spain and want to look up at the sky to see the eclipse, you will be able to observe it partially in the Canary Islands and Galicia. Or you can get on your computer and experience it in ‘Minecraft’. A matter of life choices.

This is what the latest patch of Minecraft includes, available now

Although we’ll still have to wait several months to play Minecraft version 1.21, the new update of Mojang‘s popular game has just arrived. No, it’s not a major update, as you might expect, but it still has quite a few significant changes we should mention. Below, we detail the novelties that the Minecraft 1.20.50 update brings.

Minecraft DOWNLOAD

The new Minecraft patch brings changes of all sizes, but possibly the most important is the improvement of Decorated Pots. If you think Decorated Pots are merely pretty objects that enhance the look of your builds, think again, as now they can also hold items.

Decorated Pots can now store a stack of items (up to 64 units) and can be broken by projectiles. They interact with hoppers, droppers, and minecart hoppers, which can send a redstone signal from the pot. Additionally, if a player interacts with the pot, it will wobble and produce a vibration frequency of 11. Decorated Pots also stack in piles of up to 64 units.

But if Decorated Pots don’t interest you in the slightest and you want to know what other novelties the Minecraft 1.20.50 patch includes, here are some of the most notable ones:

  • The “How to Play” screen has been completely redesigned, and a new screen called “Encyclopedia” has been created.
  • Now, you can craft the Crafter, a block that automatically crafts various items and can be used with redstone and other blocks like comparators.
  • You can create more items using copper, such as doors and trapdoors. Additionally, Tuff will now have its own family of items, including bricks and stairs.
  • From now on, you can start Minecraft directly in a Realm using a link, even when the game is not running. Example link: minecraft://connectToRealm?realmId=.
  • Calculations to determine if a mob can attack a player or other mobs have been changed. Previously, a mob’s horizontal width was used to determine its attack reach, and its height had no effect. Now, a mob’s attackable area is its bounding box extended horizontally.
  • Inventory option states, like the toggle for sorting/unsorting and the selected inventory tab, are now saved between sessions.

A player gives a lesson on how to convince your partner to play ‘Minecraft’ with you

Lava outside, a stone bridge at the entrance, fountains, a banquet room inside, and a multi-level library dressed in a color mix of black and purple. One million euros in Idealista.

I’m sure it’s happened to you more than once: you get obsessed with a game and want, somehow, for your partner to share the same passion as you… But let’s be honest, they’re not interested in the slightest. It’s normal, and sometimes you just have to deal with it. Other times, though, you can do everything in your power to get them to pick up the controller and share worlds, stories, and pixels. That’s what a guy obsessed with ‘Minecraft‘ did. And the result was spectacular.

Like a castle!

Apparently, blinkbomb06’s wife (the author of the Reddit thread in question) asked, in exchange for trying out the game (at the request of their kids), that he build her a black castle where she could live. It sounds like a way to dodge the issue, but he took it seriously. And how! Lava on the outside, a stone bridge at the entrance, fountains, a room for banquets inside, and a multi-level library adorned with a mix of black and purple colors. It’s worth a million euros on Idealista.

It’s even more impressive considering that the pixel architect’s partner has never played a video game, despite their kids’ insistence with ‘Minecraft.’ Few titles defy the years as effortlessly as the nearly fifteen-year-old block game that continues to provide intergenerational content.

Indeed, next year, the 1.21 update will be released, including new materials to work with and more enemies to keep cashing in. ‘Minecraft’ is the best-selling video game in history, and it seems like it will be extremely challenging to surpass its 300 million units sold, miles ahead of the second in the ranking, ‘GTA V,’ which doesn’t even reach two-thirds of that. And if we start building two-story castles for new players, this is just the beginning.

The latest sales figures of Minecraft demonstrate that there are increasingly more fans of cubes

Mojang has revealed the impressive sales figure that Minecraft has achieved, which remains the best-selling video game in history.

If Minecraft already holds the top spot on the list of best-selling video games in history, its success continues to grow. This weekend, Minecraft Live 2023 (formerly known as Minecon) took place, where Mojang Studios showcased the upcoming features of the game.

In addition to discussing what elements will be included in the next major update (including an armadillo), Microsoft-owned studio has also revealed that the block-building game has sold an astounding 300 million copies worldwide.

“Minecraft continues to be one of the best-selling games of all time, with over 300 million copies sold, a milestone that no one could have dreamed of when we all placed our first blocks,” said Helen Chiang, Head of Mojang, in a statement reported by The Verge.

An unprecedented success

Minecraft is a game that originated in 2009 as a personal project by Markus Persson, better known as Notch, a Swedish programmer who drew inspiration from other games like Infiniminer and Dwarf Fortress. In this goalless sandbox, players can explore, build, and survive in a randomly generated world, creating all sorts of structures and objects using the resources they find.

The game was well-received even in its early alpha and beta versions, quickly becoming a viral phenomenon through word of mouth and social media. Since its official release in 2011, Minecraft has received numerous updates introducing new content and improvements. Additionally, Minecraft has expanded to other platforms, including mobile devices, consoles, and VR, significantly boosting its popularity and accessibility.

Minecraft has made a significant cultural and media impact, being the subject of numerous analyses, critiques, parodies, and tributes. The game has received several awards and accolades for its innovation and quality, and it has been featured in books, movies, and television series. Moreover, it has inspired other similar or derivative games that have achieved great success, such as Terraria and Roblox.

Minecraft surpasses the 300 million sales milestone

Minecraft, you know, that game we all love? Well, it’s not just popular amongst us. Today, we’re tipping our hats because they’ve just announced a whopping 300 million copies sold! Talk about leveling up in the gaming world.

“As we approach the 15th anniversary, Minecraft remains one of the best-selling games of all time, with over 300 million copies sold, a milestone no one could have dreamed of when we were all placing our first blocks,” stated Helen Chiang, Helen Chiang, the chief at Mojang Studios.

This grand announcement came our way during Minecraft Live 2023. It’s this cool Minecraft stream that dishes out the latest buzz and connects the global community. Oh, and there’s a cherry on top! Every year, they let fans have a say in a new critter joining the game. This time around, it’s a toss-up between a crab, an armadillo, and a penguin.

The journey of Minecraft

Flashback to 2009, when Notch unveiled this blocky wonder to the world, it quickly amassed a dedicated tribe of fans. Their enthusiasm propelled it to such stardom that by 2014, Microsoft couldn’t resist and scooped up both the game and its parent, Mojang, for a cool $2.5 billion.

The journey didn’t stop there. Thanks to a consistent drip of fresh updates, like the recent Trails and Tales, the game’s allure just kept on growing. Oh, and did you check out Minecraft Legends? If not, you might want to – it made quite the splash when it dropped this past April.

Mojang’s recent announcement means Microsoft’s trophy shelf just got a little heavier, boasting not one, but two video game giants each crossing that golden 300 million sales mark. And the other titan? None other than Activision’s Call of Duty series.

Thanks to Microsoft’s recent (and slightly hefty) $69 billion pocket change spent on acquiring Activision Blizzard, the CoD series now waves the Microsoft flag. And let’s not breeze past the drama – wrapping up last Friday, this deal put a full stop to nearly two years of legal tussles with regulators and folks worried about market dominance.

Minecraft Legends and Redfall are the biggest games coming to Xbox Game Pass

Xbox has announced the new games that will be released on its popular Game Pass in late April and early May, including the highly anticipated Redfall.

Like every month, April has been loaded with games thanks to the popular Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft knows very well how to keep its loyal subscribers happy and, at the beginning of the month, announced the first batch of games that would enter the service this month, including Loop Hero, Iron Brigade, Ghostwire: Tokyo, NHL 23 and the long-awaited Minecraft Legends, which debuted this week directly on Game Pass.

But if all these games (plus the many you’ll find in the catalog) seem too few, Xbox has announced this week the new batch of games that will enter Game Pass in late April and early May, with several titles that will catch your attention.

First up, this April 20 we’ll be able to enjoy Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly (Cloud, consoles and PC) and Medieval Dynasty (Xbox One, already available on Xbox Series X/S and PC) on Game Pass. Just one day later, on April 21, it will be released on the Homestead Arcana service (Cloud, Xbox Series X/S and PC).

Next week, on April 26, we will be able to play Cassette Beasts (PC) for the first time on Game Pass, and the following day, on April 27, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle Special Edition (Cloud, consoles and PC) and The Last Case of Benedict Fox (consoles and PC) will also arrive on the Xbox service, which will complete the additions for the month of April.

But the best is reserved for the end. To start the month off right, on May 2 will be released the expected Redfall, the latest creation of Arkane Austin that puts us in control of a survivor (among the 4 that we can choose at the beginning of the game) who must escape from a city ravaged by a legion of vampires. It will be playable on Cloud, Xbox Series X/S and PC).

Minecraft Madness: Microsoft Makes Mojang’s Game Accessible on Chromebooks

Microsoft has released an Early Access version of Minecraft for ChromeOS, the operating system for Chromebook laptops.

We’re getting closer to being able to play Minecraft even in a coffee maker. Microsoft has launched an early access version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on ChromeOS, the operating system for Chromebooks. This way, Google’s laptops will be able to run the most played version of Minecraft without any problems and will also allow players to connect with each other.

Minecraft DOWNLOAD

“Early access means that, in this first phase, only selected Chromebook devices that meet the minimum requirements will have the option to purchase Minecraft, so you’ll need to check the Google Play Store to see if Minecraft is available to you. This isn’t because we want to single out some of our players as special (we love you all equally!): it’s so we can test the game’s performance before making it available to more players,” details Mojang, the Microsoft-owned developer studio, in a blog post.

That said, for the moment, there is no release date for the general and stable version of Minecraft for ChromeOS, according to Mojang itself: “Once it is officially released, everyone with a compatible Chromebook will be able to download it from the Google Play Store“.

Minecraft enjoys an unparalleled popularity in the world of video games. From the launch of its Alpha version in 2009 to the present day, Minecraft is one of the most played video games in the world and the best-selling game in history, with more than 238 million units sold as of March 2023.

The great success of Minecraft, which will receive this year its update 1.20: “The Trails & Tales”, has been recently proven thanks to the great events held on Twitch, such as Minecraft Extreme and Squid Craft Games 2, which featured many of the most popular streamers in the Spanish-speaking community, such as PapiGavi, Ibai or IlloJuan, among others.

Minecraft’s Upcoming 1.20 Update: Big Changes and an Official Title Revealed!

The Trails & Tales is the final name that the update will have.

Just a few weeks ago we told you here details about Minecraft update 1.20. A lot of information is known about this update, but we were missing a very important piece of information: its official name! Yes, we had everything that has been included in this update, but not its name. Thanks to Minecraft’s own profile, now we have it: The Trails & Tales.

This update, which is now available first to beta owners in both snapshot (Java) and preview (bedrock) versions, is “about self-expression, namely through representation, narrative and world-building. In this journey, all these elements come together,” says Agnes Larsson, the game’s director. “Minecraft worlds belong to the players, as do their stories and paths about them.”

According to the official information published on the blog, the final date of the update for all players (and not only beta players) is not yet fixed, only that it will arrive “later this year”.

In this update we will enjoy cherry blossoms, a new biome where new trees can also be broken down and turned into a complete set of wood, including new hanging signs and cherry saplings to grow more pink trees.

On the other hand we have the archaeology set. In this we will find a new type of sand -suspicious sand- near the desert temples, and using a new tool, the brush, we will be able to remove the blocks of suspicious sand to discover hidden tools, bones, sniffer eggs and ceramic fragments. In addition, we will have the sniffer, the winner of the 2022 Minecraft Live mob vote arrives in this world. From now on, sniffer eggs can be found in the new archaeological sites near the desert temples.

Minecraft is more alive than ever, and we’re not just saying that because of Squid Craft Games 2.
