What we didn’t know is that ‘Super Mario Bros Wonder’ was going to open a new perspective on the fetishes of the giant lizard, precisely in the year we also learned about his piano skills thanks to the movie ‘Super Mario Bros’ and the unforgettable ‘Peaches’. Quite a journey.
A thousand roses for Peach
There’s no simple way to explain this, but let’s give it a try: in the new video Nintendo released to promote the game, we see Bowser offering a rose to the princess before she turns into an elephant. Then, the enemy leaves for a moment and returns with a whole bouquet prepared. Something in the Peach-elephant has awakened previously unheard-of feelings in him.
And, of course, the internet has been filled with phrases promoting body positivity, without kink-shaming, and in favor of Bowser’s embrace of plus-size figures. Of course. Yas, queen. For once, this isn’t some strange theory from a couple of Reddit enthusiasts; it’s the official, pure canon reality: Bowser is, more or less, the Javier Gurruchaga of the Mario world.
The memes didn’t take long to appear, from Peach’s slightly annoyed – not terrified – expression upon seeing her personal enemy and kidnapper, to Bowser’s face of discovery of something very internal, and the famous “Joke’s on you. I’m into that!” The game is set to be released on October 20th, and it seems like Nintendo, for once, hasn’t taken itself too seriously. Please, let it stay this way forever.
