The gaming community is on edge with the imminent arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2. Expectations are high, particularly regarding the new exclusive games and the technical capabilities of the console. However, one aspect that has gone unnoticed is the crucial role that the subscription service, Nintendo Switch Online, will play alongside its Expansion Pack.

Greatly improved emulation, but only on Switch 2

Recently, Nintendo announced significant improvements for classic Nintendo 64 games, available exclusively to Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. One of these features is control customization, which will allow players to reassign buttons at will, making it easier to adapt to modern controllers. This adjustment is especially relevant for those seeking a more comfortable and personalized control during their gaming sessions.

Additionally, a CRT filter will be introduced that recreates the appearance of old tube televisions, evoking the nostalgia of the 90s. This filter can be activated at any time, adding a retro touch to the gaming experience. Another exclusive improvement of the Switch 2 will be the rewind function, which will allow players to rewind a few seconds in the game to correct mistakes, an invaluable tool in those moments of difficulty.

The Expansion Pack already includes titles from Game Boy Advance and Sega Genesis, but as part of its evolution, classic Gamecube games are expected to be added starting June 5. More than a dozen iconic titles such as F-Zero GX and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker will be available at the launch of the Switch 2, which enhances the appeal of this platform.

With more content on the way and improved features, players are eager to explore what the next generation of Nintendo consoles has to offer.

Bloodborne will not have a remaster soon, but emulation brings us closer to playing it as we would like

An enthusiastic group of fans and modders has achieved what many believed impossible: creating a PC emulator that allows playing Bloodborne at 60 fps. Although this innovative tool, known as shadPS4, has some limitations in certain areas of the game, such as in Central Yharnam, where performance can drop to 40 fps due to high graphical load, players have been very satisfied with the overall experience. Not only the possibility of playing at more FPS: also a renewed visual aspect. This emulator not only enables a much higher frame rate but also allows […]

Bloodborne will not have a remaster soon, but emulation brings us closer to playing it as we would like

An enthusiastic group of fans and modders has achieved what many thought impossible: creating a PC emulator that allows playing Bloodborne at 60 fps. Although this innovative tool, known as shadPS4, presents some limitations in certain areas of the game, such as in Central Yharnam, where performance can drop to 40 fps due to high graphical load, players have been very satisfied with the overall experience.

Not only the possibility of playing at more FPS: also a renewed visual aspect

This emulator not only enables a much higher frame rate but also allows Bloodborne to be viewed in native resolutions of 1080p and even 1152p, if the PC configuration allows it. Additionally, modders have developed the Bloodborne Remaster project, which changes key visual aspects, including shadows, lighting, and textures, giving a different approach to the dark and captivating atmosphere that characterizes the game.

Player comments on various platforms reveal a collective desire for an official PC version of the game that runs at 60 fps, a wish that, to date, has not been fulfilled by Sony, due to Miyazaki himself, according to reports. Despite this, the Japanese giant has no immediate plans to release such an optimized version. However, it has announced an ambitious strategy to develop 9,000 new IPs by 2027, which could open the door to future developments related to the iconic franchise.

The Bloodborne community has expressed their gratitude to the modders for making the dream of playing this acclaimed title on PC a reality, highlighting the dedication and ingenuity behind these projects. While players enjoy the emulated and enhanced version, the wait for an official solution from Sony continues, leaving many hopeful that one day their wish will come true.

Nintendo, Sega, and Konami agree: emulation will not be illegal, but they know where their limit is

In a recent meeting at the Tokyo eSports Festa 2025, representatives from major companies in the video game industry, such as Nintendo, Sega, and Konami, addressed the crucial issue of intellectual property (IP) rights and their impact on the sustainable growth of the sector. Koji Nishiura, patent attorney at Nintendo, emphasized that intellectual property rights are vital for the healthy development of the industry, highlighting the legal protection provided by different forms of IP, including trademarks, patents, and design rights.

Nishiura, who is also the deputy manager of Nintendo’s IP division, emphasized the diversity of rights the company seeks to acquire to strengthen its ability to protect its brand and business. This protection strategy becomes even more relevant following the recent legal controversies Nintendo has been involved in, such as the lawsuit against a streamer for broadcasting leaked games and the patent infringement lawsuit against Palworld developer, Pocketpair.

From Sega’s perspective, Kikuo Masumoto, head of the Corporate Development headquarters, commented that game creators can build on the ideas of others, which is essential for the evolution of the industry. However, he warned that there is a limit to imitation before the situation becomes a legal issue. Unlike Nintendo, Masumoto noted that Sega does not seek to restrict the use of its technologies through patents, allowing their use in exchange for licenses.

Nintendo, making it clear when emulation is illegal

For his part, Shunsuke Murase, manager of the legal department at Konami, added that licensing game mechanics and technologies is essential to recoup investments, especially in a context where development costs are constantly increasing. Still, from Nintendo, it is noted that although an emulator is not illegal by itself, its legality depends on the use given to it, which adds a layer of complexity in the interpretation and application of IP law in different territories.
