Krafton, the team behind PUBG: Battlegrounds, has revealed its exciting plans for 2025, marking a new chapter in the evolution of this popular game and the battle royale genre. Since its launch in 2017, PUBG has laid the groundwork for this global phenomenon and has influenced numerous developers. With the transition to Unreal Engine 5, significant improvements in visual quality and performance are expected, especially on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, allowing players to enjoy an experience with a higher frames per second rate.
Something we didn’t know we needed: destructible terrain
One of the highlights of this update will be the incorporation of destructible terrain in the maps of Taego, Miramar, and Erangel. This new mechanic will allow players to modify their environment during matches, which will surely provide new strategies and dynamics in the game. Additionally, Krafton is developing a project that will make it easier for the community to create and share their own creations, introducing a Team Deathmatch mode in custom matches.
The study also plans to unify the normal and ranked matches, with a revised ranking system that promises to be more rewarding. With balance patches scheduled every two months, a constant adjustment of weapons is expected along with the introduction of new ones, as well as a review of those that are used less. In turn, the artificial intelligence of the bots will be renewed to offer more realistic behavior in the game.
Finally, hacker detection technologies will be implemented and security measures will be strengthened to protect players’ accounts, ensuring a safer and fairer experience. With these improvements in sight, PUBG fans have reasons to look forward to a year full of news and exciting changes in their favorite game.
