Last night the State of Play took place where we saw an extended first look at the gameplay of Marvel’s Wolverine. In this trailer, we discovered some details about the story and its mechanics, learning more about one of the most anticipated games of the year for Sony.
Perhaps the most important and surprising aspect is everything related to the history level. The group of Harvesters, a common anti-mutant faction in comics especially at the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s, is kidnapping mutants for unknown purposes, while Wolverine is trying to rescue them. Although this group is aware of the existence of mutants, most people do not know about their existence, which seems to confirm that the game will take place either between the 80s and the 90s, or in a new timeline.
During the trailer, several characters that we hadn’t seen before were also introduced. At one point, Jean Grey appears supporting Wolverine in battle with a design based on Grant Morrison’s New X-Men, but she is not the only new character featured in the trailer. Mystique, Omega Red, and Sabertooth also make an appearance in a supercut at the end of the trailer, showing that we are going to have some of the most iconic characters in Logan’s history.
Wolverine has no issues with violence
Additionally, we have been able to see how the game will be played. With certain platform elements, the emphasis will be on action. Extremely violent and with the ability to regenerate from wounds, we have seen that Wolverine is capable of entering a berserk mode that seems to give him greater abilities and also has the capacity to regenerate his health at least once per game thanks to his mutant abilities.
While we are still waiting to know the specific details, this trailer has helped give us a better perspective of the game. To learn more, we will have to wait until its release on September 15 exclusively for PlayStation 5.
