These are the PS Plus games for October

We already have the October PlayStation games announcement among us, with three games that you may not have expected, but you definitely need!

Few days are happier than the last Wednesday of the month when the PS Plus games for the next month are announced. This month is not only quite interesting but perhaps we need to explain why it is. That’s okay. That’s what we’re here for. Sony sometimes makes choices that may seem a bit out of place, and not everything will always be AAA titles, but that doesn’t mean that what they are offering are bad games. Far from it.

This month, we have a good dose of horror, adventure to solve as you like, and one of the best-selling and celebrated simulators in all of our old continent. As we already mentioned that it had been leaked. Do you want to know what they are? Well, for that, you just have to keep reading. Do you want to play them? For that, you’ll have to wait until Tuesday, October 3rd, or if you’re reading this after that date, claim them before Monday, November 6th. And having clarified everything, let’s get to the games!

The Callisto Protocol (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4)

The first game from Striking Distance Studios promised to be the spiritual successor to Dead Space, and we had good reasons to believe it would be. Directed by Glen Schofield, the executive producer of the original Dead Space, and with the studio founded by him, it was expected to capture that same spirit. In the end, the game turned out to be a bit rough around the edges, with an inconclusive ending until the arrival of the DLC, but let’s not kid ourselves. The Callisto Protocol is a good horror game that, while not as original and groundbreaking as the original Dead Space, iterates quite well from its foundations to create something truly interesting.

Farming Simulator 22 (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4)

For a significant portion of the audience, Farming Simulator might sound like a filler game. However, for a small but significant group of players, it’s like saying they include the Game of the Year (GOTY) every year. For many people, this is their FIFA or NBA 2K, except instead of playing a sport, they manage a farm in a relatively realistic manner. There are online competitions, with a professional competitive circuit included. Farming Simulator 22 represents a significant graphical leap compared to the previous Farming Simulator 19, in addition to adding many improvements that make it the best farm simulator you can play.

Weird West (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4)

Raphaël Colantonio, the director of Weird West and the founder of WolfEye Studio, may not be a widely recognized name among the general public. However, if we mention that he is the creative director behind games like Dishonored and Prey from Arkane Studios, we might have a clearer picture of who this person is. Because Weird West is exactly what we can expect from Colantonio. It’s a game where everything interacts with everything else, and the beauty lies precisely in that. We find ourselves in a Wild West setting where we have to solve a series of personal problems for five different characters, and how we do it is entirely up to us. Everything has consequences. Nothing is off-limits. Few games will ever offer you more freedom to do as you please and accept the consequences than Weird West.

The creative director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has revealed where the game ends: there are another 100 hours to come

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will end at the most remembered point of Final Fantasy VII, which makes us suspect possible twists in the game.

RPGs tend to be long games. They aim to tell a story, often with many characters and involving decades or centuries of consequences from ancient acts, and that takes time. Just ask Final Fantasy. A franchise known for its short games that expand beyond 30 hours when you go straight to the main campaign. That’s why, although we’re excited about the announcement of the release date of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, we’re also worried. Worried about asking ourselves a question. How long will this game last? And the game’s creative director has answered us.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second part of the remake trilogy of the original Final Fantasy 7. This means that this game will not conclude the story, and therefore, we don’t know where it will end. However, we have Tetsuya Nomura to clarify, and he has explained in an interview on the PlayStation blog how far it will go.

According to him, the game will conclude in The Lost Capital. Those who have played the original game might be breaking into a cold sweat right now. It’s understandable. One of the most iconic events in the game takes place there. However, since Final Fantasy 7 Remake has substantially changed the story compared to the original game, it raises the question of whether the fate of our characters will be the same at the end of this Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Because things can change.

Especially because Nomura has clarified that they have changed many things along the way. We won’t be visiting Wutai until the next installment of the game, and the order of other important locations will be changed. That’s why it’s not possible to know the exact content of the game, but from what is implied and what we could see in the trailer, it would be strange if there were less than 100 hours of content to complete the entirety of the game.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released on February 29, 2024, on two discs. Its first part, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Red Dead Redemption’s Return is a disappointment beyond you think

Red Dead Redemption returns to consoles, although it does so in the way we least expected it, and let’s be honest, we least wanted it.

Not long ago, thanks to the Korean rating agency, we learned that the original Red Dead Redemption was making a return. We didn’t know exactly in what form, but we had a clear wish. A remake or remaster for the new generation or a PC version was the ideal scenario, allowing us to relive John Marston’s bittersweet adventure. And our prayers have been answered. But perhaps not by the divine.

Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Redemption is coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on August 17. Handling this new conversion is Double Eleven, a studio familiar with the original work: it was founded by former Rockstar developers in 2009.

The problem lies with Double Eleven Studios, a support studio, which doesn’t exactly have a good track record when it comes to successful console releases. They’re behind technical flops like Fallout 76, Crackdown 3, Rust, and Minecraft Dungeons, which raises concerns that this version might not be the definitive edition of Red Dead Redemption. Adding to this the disastrous state in which Grand Theft Auto Trilogy was released, we have more than justified reasons to fear a potential debacle.

For those unfamiliar with Red Dead Redemption, it’s an open-world game set in the final days of the Wild West. Originally released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 17, 2009, it was followed by a highly popular sequel for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018, and later for PC.

This new version of Red Dead Redemption will cost €49.99 on the Nintendo eShop and PlayStation Store. If you prefer a physical edition of the game, you’ll have to wait until October 13 to get your hands on it. Furthermore, the game will include several new translations, including Latin American Spanish. A positive detail amidst what is, let’s be honest, not exactly the game version we were hoping for.

PlayStation Plus Delights: Get Ready for the Hottest Games in August’s Lineup

The PS Plus games for August are not yet confirmed, but we have drawn the cards and we offer you our best predictions

As every month, we are getting ready for the games that PlayStation will bring us with its basic PS Plus subscription. Like every month at this time, we still don’t know what those games will be. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate and make some guesses. After all, even though Sony’s plans, like the Lord’s, are inscrutable, it doesn’t stop us from making bets and trying to figure out what might be up their sleeves. And perhaps, even hit the mark.

On this occasion, we have chosen some games that will soon have sequels or will be receiving some form of reissue. These are games that are bound to create excitement, and it would be normal for Sony to want to be in the middle of all that buzz. However, as always, the games won’t be announced until next Wednesday, and until then, we cannot confirm anything. In the meantime, here are our speculations!

Marvel’s Spider-Man (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4)

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is on the horizon, and Sony is well aware of it. They also know that the game has consistently received high praise and that it’s not a game you can finish in just a couple of afternoons; people will likely want to play it before diving into its sequel. Therefore, few games make more sense to headline the list of titled games on PS Plus right now than Marvel’s Spider-Man.

FIFA 23 (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4)

Considering that EA Sports FC 24 has a very close release date with significant changes, it doesn’t leave much room for Sony to include FIFA 23 in PS Plus. It has become almost an annual tradition for the previous installment of the franchise to be featured in the service. Given that we already had the excellent NBA 2K23 last June, it wouldn’t be surprising if Sony continues this trend of offering sports games that are close to getting a new installment, providing us, with our subscription, the one that is about to become the “older” one.

Neon White (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4)

This is our wild speculation of the month, but it has some foundation. The physical edition of the game is set to release in September, courtesy of Meridiam Games, and currently, you can find it on sale at a 30% discount until August 3rd. Since the Plus games will be added on Tuesday, August 1st, it might be daring to think that this isn’t just a particularly crazy guess. Neon White is an excellent platformer with shooter elements that will surely delight fans of speedruns. Guaranteed.

The Free Games Coming to PS Plus in July 2023

Like every end of the month, Sony offers us a series of free games for all those who subscribe to PS Plus: these are those games.

With a multiplayer as fine as ever and with some very interesting additions, this will undoubtedly be the main course of the Plus games for many, many players.

Alan Wake Remastered (PS5 and PS4)

Alan Wake 2 has a release date of October 17 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox X Series and Xbox Series S, so it’s only natural that Sony has decided to warm up the atmosphere with the remastering of the first installment of the game. Originally released on May 10, 2010, this incredible cinematic survival horror puts us in the shoes of a writer in search of inspiration, only to find himself immersed in a nightmare that seems to come out of one of his books. A cult game that will be back soon and that you don’t want to miss if you like adventure games.

Endling – Extinction is Forever (PS5 and PS4)

Herobeat Studios are an independent studio from Barcelona that with Endling – Extinction is Forever wanted to do something very difficult: to make us aware of the need to preserve the environment through the story of a mother fox who must protect her small litter of newborns. Having to explore a new and hostile environment, feed our cubs and also ourselves, is the perfect mix of adventure and survival in a game with a great narrative, an impressive artistic design and a final stretch capable of bringing tears to even the coldest heart.

Get ready for April’s PlayStation Plus games: Here’s the one you can’t miss!

With the arrival of new games with which to destroy the controller with the flick of a thumb, the eternal question arises: which one to hit first?

April’s PlayStation Plus games are about to be released: on Tuesday, April 4, ‘Meet your maker’, ‘Sackboy: A big adventure’ and ‘Tails of iron’ will finally be available. And with the arrival of new games with which to destroy the controller at the stroke of a thumb, comes the eternal question: Which one to hit first?

Plataforming, adventure or raideo?

It depends a lot on your personal tastes, but here the first one we’ll try will be ‘Sackboy’. What can we do, we have such a nice memory of ‘Little Big Planet’ that we can’t resist to see what its protagonist does on PS5, with a classic platformer that drinks, and a lot, from the Mario saga (and specifically from Super Mario 3D World) without taking away a bit of charm. Admit it: no matter how much of a Sony fan you are, you’ve ever wished Miyamoto would release a couple of games on your PlayStation.

Sackboy’ is made with love and affection for the genre, but also for a character somewhat mistreated by time. If only for the good old days, it’s worth going back to a mythical saga. But of course, if we go to the good old (modernized) times, we don’t want to lose sight of ‘Tails of Iron’: a 2D ‘Dark Souls’ a little shorter than usual (at a certain age, believe us, it’s a good thing) and that goes to the point, with a spectacular and different narrative. Okay, it’s not ‘Hollow knight’, but it’s worth a look.

For once, the third in discord is not that we can’t recommend it, it’s that it’s an absolute novelty! And the first reviews leave it as a mixture of ‘Minecraft’, ‘Super Mario Maker’ and… ‘Doom’. How you stay. With a first-person gameplay, ‘Meet your maker’ consists of setting up the best possible defensive barrier in your base with enemies, traps and mazes so that your rivals can’t enter and rob you… while you go to do the same in their bases. Simple and fun.

To choose just one of the three games, we would need a whiteboard and several lists of pros and cons. Fortunately, in April, PlayStation Plus games were able to keep fans happy, so let’s hope the good times continue in May!
