Merchandising, toys, and all kinds of gadgets in the shape of Minecraft flood the stores, waiting to adorn the homes of fans. And now, it seems that something even more surprising is coming: a live-action movie.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have released the first trailer for the live-action Minecraft movie. Featuring Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen, it guarantees to be a one-of-a-kind adaptation of the video game into live-action. They strive to preserve the original game’s essence as much as possible while giving it a more cinematic touch. 

Regarding its synopsis, a group of four outcasts played by Momoa, Hansen, Myers, and Brooks will be transported to the Overworld, the world of Minecraft. There, they will have to face Piglins and Zombies with the help of a crafting expert: none other than Jack Black. Something they will need to return to the real world. 

In addition to this, last May, it was announced that Mojang Studios is working with Netflix on an animated series of Minecraft. This, undoubtedly less unique than the live-action movie, was announced to coincide with the fifteenth anniversary of the video game. Therefore, it may not have an early release—not even on the horizon—especially considering that Netflix has no problem announcing projects three or four years in advance.

That’s not the case with the Minecraft movie, in any case. Its release date is planned for April 2, 2025, internationally and April 4 in the United States. Its director is Jared Hess, who made great comedies like Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre in the past. So, although with skepticism, we look forward to this adaptation of Mohjang’s work.

There was a time when it seemed like only HBO made prestigious series. That time has passed. Today, more or less everyone has quality series, treating television as more than just entertainment. It’s not a rare bird. But that doesn’t mean HBO is no longer the benchmark for many people. And with good reason. For example, the first season of Tokyo Vice.

That’s why the premiere of the trailer for the second season of Tokyo Vice is great news. It makes us eager to continue watching Adelstein’s story unfold as he tries to unravel the relationships of the underworld. Hopefully, without getting killed along the way.

If you haven’t seen Tokyo Vice, don’t worry. It’s a series that has gone under the radar for many people, despite being a true gem. Released in April 2022 on HBO Max, it’s a series that follows a reporter named Jake Adelstein, who works for the Yomiuri Shimbun, one of Japan’s largest newspapers, covering crime cases, especially those related to the yakuza. When his work becomes too intertwined with the activities of Tadamasa Goto, a Yakuza boss, Adelstein will start digging deeper and deeper to try to get out of the hole he’s gotten himself into.

Probably the most interesting thing about the series, in addition to its spectacular cinematography that presents us with a beautiful image of Tokyo, is that all of this is based on real events. Jake Adelstein is a real reporter who wrote a book about his experience as a journalist at the Yomiuri Shimbun covering the yakuza. That book is called Tokyo Vice and this series adapts the book. Something that makes certain moments of the story even more impactful, as it makes us aware that they actually happened.

If you are not familiar with the series and it has caught your attention, you still have time to catch up. The first season consists of 10 episodes, directed by Michael Mann, and the second season will premiere on February 8th. More than enough time to catch up and enjoy this fabulous story of journalism and yakuza worthy of the best HBO.

Sound! Euphonium confirms its third season with a trailer, providing us with a release date and the first official images beyond the teaser.

Unlike live-action series, anime has a very particular rhythm. We’re not referring to the content itself, but to the release dates. Accustomed to annual seasons, where any success is squeezed to exhaustion, in Japan they also try, but it’s not always possible. Few productions are original and you have to wait until the original work progresses enough to have material to adapt.

That is one of the reasons why we had to wait five years to see the third season of Sound! Euphonium. While it is true that in this particular case there are other more problematic reasons, such as the fire that the main studio of Kyoto Animation suffered, the publication of the novels itself was one of the points that prevented them from being released earlier. Now we get the first official trailer, which shows us what we can expect from it.

As we talked about some time ago, this third season will focus on Kumiko and Reina’s third year of high school, both of whom have much more prominent roles within the school band. Something that will generate friction with the arrival of new students, especially one of them, who will clash with Kumiko’s ambitions and personality.

For those who are not familiar with Sound! Euphonium, it is a series about the Kitauji high school band and their ambitions to participate in the national band tournament. A good sports anime is generally well-received. There’s something charming about watching a group of people push themselves, achieve their goals, and grow through their rivalries. That’s why it’s not surprising that Haikyuu!! has always had a passionate fandom.

The fandom is not only passionate but also fortunate. After four seasons of the anime, Haruichi Furudate’s manga will conclude with two movies. Produced by Production I.G and the same team responsible for the series, they have the challenging task of wrapping up a story that the audience has been closely following for 9 years, 3 movies, and 85 episodes.

Fortunately, we now know more about these movies. Firstly, the first of the two movies will be titled “Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle” and will adapt the match between the players of Nekoma and Karasuno. The Japanese release date is set for February 16, 2024, with an international release date yet to be confirmed, much to the disappointment of fans worldwide. To ease this a bit, we do have the first trailer for the movie, promising the same spectacular action the series is known for.

After “Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle,” there will still be another movie without a name or release date yet. This movie will adapt all the events from the match between Nekoma and Karasuno to the end of the manga. This means that the final movie will have to cover a lot more material than this first one or make significant cuts to the final arc of the manga. In the meantime, you can watch all four seasons of Haikyuu!! on Netflix.

SPYxFAMILY returns with a spectacular trailer to motivate us ahead of the release of its second season

SPYxFAMILY, one of the most celebrated anime of recent years, returns with a trailer that makes us eager for its imminent premiere.

If television has shown us anything, it’s that the old cinephile adage that “sequels were never good” was never true. The number of series that truly take off in their second season, or that deliver an excellent second season after a very good first season, is greater than those that falter after doing well the first time. That’s why each new season of a series, whether live-action or, as in this case, anime, is usually a cause for celebration.

SPYxFAMILY returns on October 7th with its second season, and to celebrate, they have released a new trailer. Packed with family interactions, a date between Loid and Yor, and a glimpse at various episodes that hint at a broader plot to come, the trailer promises an even more intense season than the first, if that was even possible.

In terms of the specifics, there’s little to worry about. Kazuhiro Furahashi, Takahiro Harada, and Kazuaki Shimada are returning as director, assistant director, and character designer, respectively. The animation studios responsible for the show remain a collaboration between Wit Studio and CloverWorks, so we shouldn’t notice any difference in the quality of the anime or its direction and consistency. So, there’s nothing to worry about; everything is in its place.

What has changed is the opening and ending for each episode. This time, Ado will be handling the opening with her song “Kurakura,” and Vaundy with “Cory Wong” for the ending with the much more calm and silky “Todome no Ichigeki” to close out the episodes. It’s a perfect way to kick off this second season, which, even if it seemed impossible, looks even better than the first.

In Spain, you can watch SPYxFAMILY on Crunchyroll. However, at the time of this news publication, Crunchyroll has not officially announced the release date for the second season.

Kyoto Animation returns with the trailer for the third season of their most musical anime

Kyoto Animation begins to return to the fray, offering us the trailer for the third season of one of its animes most loved by the community.

If there is an animation studio known for its excellence, it’s Kyoto Animation. While they had to significantly slow down their pace due to the tragedy that occurred on July 18, 2019, where an unrelated individual set fire to their offices, resulting in the loss of 36 lives and injuries to 33 others, it doesn’t mean they have ceased to exist. Slowly but surely, they are recovering from this tragedy and making a return to the small screen. And by 2024, they have planned the highly anticipated comeback of one of their most popular series.

Recently, the Japanese studio has released a new trailer for the third season of Sound! Euphonium. In this trailer, they introduce a new character, Mayu Kuroe, who is a new student playing the euphonium. With a rendition of Glenn Miller’s classic swing tune, “Moonlight Serenade,” the trailer hints at Mayu’s role as the deuteragonist of this third season. Since Kumino, our protagonist, also plays the euphonium, there’s only one position as the principal euphonium player in any respectable band.

The anime will adapt Kumiko’s entire third year in high school, covering two volumes of Ayano Takeda’s light novel of the same name. If you don’t want to know what happens in this third season, please skip the following paragraph, as it contains spoilers.

In the novels, the high school band reunites its efforts to win gold at the national band competition. Kumiko becomes the new president, with Shuiichi as her vice president, and Reina takes on the role of the head percussionist. New students join the school and the band, with Mayu Kuroe, an exceptional euphonium soloist from Seira Girls’ School, standing out among them. This addition creates new tensions within the band.

The third season of Sound! Euphonium is set to premiere in April 2024. While the streaming platforms have not been officially confirmed, it is expected to be available on Crunchyroll, where the first two seasons can be watched.
