A highly anticipated return for fans

The first season of Ao Ashi was produced by Production I.G., a studio known for its quality in animation and storytelling. However, the second season will see the transition to the renowned TMS Entertainment, famous for having worked on series like Ashita no Joe, Dr. Stone, and more recently Sakamoto Days. This change of studio generates expectations among the community, considering TMS’s experience in the industry.

In terms of episodes, although no exact number has been specified, it is estimated that the next season could have approximately 24 chapters. This number will largely depend on TMS’s production and its ability to adapt the content. With the Ao Ashi manga reaching its conclusion with volume 40, there is ample room to develop the story without restrictions. However, considering the numerous famous sports anime that have achieved reasonable success outside of Japan, this notion doesn’t seem to make much sense. A good sports anime is generally well-received. There’s something charming about watching a group of people push themselves, achieve their goals, and grow through their rivalries. That’s why it’s not surprising that Haikyuu!! has always had a passionate fandom.

The fandom is not only passionate but also fortunate. After four seasons of the anime, Haruichi Furudate’s manga will conclude with two movies. Produced by Production I.G and the same team responsible for the series, they have the challenging task of wrapping up a story that the audience has been closely following for 9 years, 3 movies, and 85 episodes.

Fortunately, we now know more about these movies. Firstly, the first of the two movies will be titled “Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle” and will adapt the match between the players of Nekoma and Karasuno. The Japanese release date is set for February 16, 2024, with an international release date yet to be confirmed, much to the disappointment of fans worldwide. To ease this a bit, we do have the first trailer for the movie, promising the same spectacular action the series is known for.

After “Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle,” there will still be another movie without a name or release date yet. This movie will adapt all the events from the match between Nekoma and Karasuno to the end of the manga. This means that the final movie will have to cover a lot more material than this first one or make significant cuts to the final arc of the manga. Under this premise, a group of boys living in a secure place isolated from the outside world receive a message one day asking them, “Would you like to go outside the outside?” This leads them to imagine what the outside world will be like. The outside world is a hellish wasteland where our protagonists, Maru and Kiruko, try to survive while searching for a safe place they know as Eden.

Produced by the animation studio Production I.G, Heavenly Delusion has been a great success among critics and audiences. Presenting us with a post-apocalyptic world that truly feels uninhabitable and desolate, delving into the relationship between Maru and Kiriko, and flawlessly developing its characters and the world they inhabit, it is not unreasonable to say that Heavenly Delusion is one of the best post-apocalyptic stories you can watch today. Especially when it features spectacular animation, exceptional artwork, and character design, particularly regarding the mystery that led the world to its current situation, which greatly enhances the overall experience. However, due to the mature nature of many of the themes addressed in the series, including aspects such as sex or gore, it is important to be aware of what we are getting into before diving into it.

Although it has not yet been officially announced, everything indicates that the series will have a second season. With the first season about to conclude and available to watch in full streaming on Disney+, Heavenly Delusion is probably the most interesting anime focused on a more adult audience of this spring season that we are about to leave behind.
