The first update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, known as 1.0.1, is now available and brings with it a relatively small list of fixes, suggesting that there have been no significant crises since its launch. Despite the mixed reviews facing many recent releases, the absence of serious issues can be considered a notable achievement in the current video game industry.

A heavy update for what it brings

The size of the update is remarkably large, with over 7 GB on PC, 1.4 GB on PS5, and 9 GB on Xbox Series X/S and Mac. This has led to speculation about the amount of data that has been fixed or added in this first revision of the game.

Ubisoft has also shared that Shadows has had the second best launch in the history of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, only surpassed by Valhalla. It is important to remember that the launch of Valhalla was set against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, when many players were at home, which likely influenced its sales figures. This context opens the door for Shadows to be considered the true giant, free from those special circumstances.

However, despite these promising numbers, Ubisoft has not yet provided specific details about actual sales. This has generated excitement and some anticipation among the game’s followers, which will lead many to pay attention to the company’s upcoming financial call, scheduled for May. In that call, figures are expected that could significantly impact Ubisoft’s future decisions and strategies.

Meanwhile, the gaming community continues to enjoy the game’s mechanics and prepares to unlock new skills, weapons, and gear, while expanding their experience with this title in the iconic saga.

Could Assassin's Creed Shadows be delayed again? It's more likely than you think

Ubisoft has rescheduled the launch of its highly anticipated title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, several times, which is now set for March 18, 2025. The technical difficulties that accompanied previous launches, such as that of Star Wars Outlaws, have led the company to adopt a more cautious approach. The developers assure that the game is “practically done and finished,” which aims to minimize the possibility of further delays.

The Assassin’s Creed fan community has shown palpable enthusiasm for this new installment, especially after the success of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and the celebration that was Mirage, based on what was originally going to be a DLC. However, the shadow of the mistakes made by Ubisoft in the past has generated some anxiety. The recent failures, including the aforementioned failed launch of Star Wars Outlaws, have left a mark on their reputation, increasing the pressure on Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Although it is possible, it does not seem that it will happen

With the launch scheduled just a month away, the possibility of a new delay has drastically reduced. As the date approaches, marketing campaigns begin to activate, and changing the date at this point could be disastrous for bookings and the company’s image. Despite rumors of internal nervousness at Ubisoft, sources close to the matter claim that preparations are progressing smoothly, suggesting that, in principle, there should be no further delays.

Ubisoft is determined to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, seeking to launch Assassin’s Creed Shadows in optimal conditions and without technical issues. The company hopes that this meticulous approach will help them not only avoid negative noise, but also ensure a solid commercial performance at launch, allowing players to enjoy the experience with the latest graphic technology.

The next God of War could take us back to familiar ground

Kratos, the iconic protagonist of the God of War series, may be ready to return to Greece in his next adventure, according to recent reports. After closing the Norse saga in God of War Ragnarök, fans are wondering what the future holds for the franchise, which is currently surrounded by uncertainty and rumors, with no official announcements from Santa Monica Studio.

Kratos returning to the place that saw him born for a great prequel

Initially, it was speculated that the next title could take Kratos to Egypt, igniting excitement among fans. However, new information suggests that, instead, the Spartan warrior could explore his complicated relationship with Zeus in a Greek setting. This possibility has been strengthened by the recent downloadable content Valhalla, which features flashbacks of Kratos’s life in Greece, which many interpret as a hint of his possible return to the place where his odyssey began.

The renowned insider Tom Henderson has mentioned that the upcoming game could be some sort of prequel that would delve into the relationship between a young Kratos and his father Zeus. Although he warns that the details are still uncertain and that this assertion should not be “taken as a fact,” the idea of a return to Greek myths sparks great interest among fans.

With a possible State of Play scheduled for next week, expectations are rising and many are hoping that Santa Monica Studio will reveal information about a new installment of God of War. There is also speculation that they might be working on a remaster of the original God of War trilogy, while simultaneously developing a new saga. The coming days could be crucial to clarify the future of this acclaimed franchise.
