Path of Exile will have a small delay due to the development of Path of Exile 2

Grinding Gear Games has decided to redirect its resources towards the development of Path of Exile 2, which has caused the delay of the 3.26 update for Path of Exile 1. Grinding Gear Games has decided to redirect its resources towards the development of Path of Exile 2, which has caused the delay of the 3.26 update for Path of Exile 1. The game’s director and co-founder of the developer, Jonathan Rogers, noted in a video message that his team underestimated the complexity of managing two projects simultaneously, leading to the conclusion that they could not allow the advancement of PoE 1 while still facing significant issues in the new installment.

Since its early access, Path of Exile 2 has attracted more than a million players who paid for this mode, establishing itself as one of the most played titles on Steam. Even so, the launch has brought unexpected challenges, including a flood of support tickets that has led Grinding Gear Games to double its customer service team to handle the high demand.

The company acknowledges that they still need to adjust things

Rogers acknowledged that, after a pause during the holidays, the studio decided to prioritize resolving issues in PoE 2 before resuming the development of a new league for the first game. Originally, the new league was expected to launch in February, although now the goal is to start work on the 3.26 update a few weeks after version 0.2.0 of PoE 2 is released. However, the developer assures that pre-production work for this future update has already begun.

The team at Grinding Gear Games has emphasized that there is still much to learn about managing multiple projects. As they continue to refine their organizational structure, the studio maintains a solid plan for what the 3.26 update will bring.

The most anticipated RPG of the year is delayed until 2024

The most anticipated RPG of the year is delayed until 2024, something that puts it in the uncomfortable position of having to face the heavyweights

Sometimes delays are unavoidable. To prevent developers from having to work unhealthy hours, to ensure the game’s quality upon release, or to avoid launching during a period that suddenly seems unfavorable, delaying a game becomes necessary. It’s not anyone’s preferred course of action, not even for the developers, but sometimes there’s no other choice. This has been the case for one of the most anticipated RPGs of the year, and certainly the most awaited RPG of what remains of the year.

The Thaumaturge DOWNLOAD

The Thaumaturge, the narrative RPG developed by Fool’s Theory and 11 bit studios, has been delayed until 2024. However, it’s just a small delay. It was initially set to release on December 5th but will now launch on February 20th, 2024, just over two months later.

According to 11 bit studios, the reason for this delay is because “mastering mystical arts is an ambitious task, and so is developing a game when you refuse to compromise on quality. With that in mind, 11 bit studios and Fool’s Theory have mutually decided to give The Thaumaturge additional development time to reach the standards that players expect from the title.” This sounds like a very good reason to delay it.

The issue is that its new release date will make it compete against several heavyweights in the genre. Persona 3 Reload is coming out on the 2nd, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak on the 15th, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the 29th of February. This places The Thaumaturge among major releases in the same genre, competing for attention.

With an initial release planned exclusively for PC, followed by versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S at a later date, The Thaumaturge faces a tough battle ahead. It remains to be seen whether it can emerge victorious amidst such competition.

Ubisoft has delayed a big game, and all signs point to it being the new Star Wars game

Ubisoft has delayed several of its games, but everything indicates that the most important of them is the new Star Wars game

Game development is difficult, and delays are often inevitable. Especially when we’re talking about large multinational companies where release dates are set from places far removed from the day-to-day realities of production. This is something we’ve seen today with the wave of delays announced by Ubisoft for their games. However, one of these delays has caught our attention, and not without good reason.

Star Wars Outlaws DOWNLOAD

Ubisoft has announced that a “major game,” previously planned to release before the end of March 2024, has been delayed. How long? Until sometime before the end of March 2025. While they haven’t mentioned any specific name, everyone quickly assumed which game it is. Because with only a few months left until that hypothetical release, there’s only one announced game on the horizon: Star Wars Outlaw.

This may seem like a long shot because the game is announced but doesn’t have a release date yet, but nothing could be further from the truth. As early as May last year, even before Star Wars Outlaws was announced, multiple sources confirmed that Ubisoft was planning to release an open-world Star Wars game. And its release date was scheduled for early 2024. Furthermore, two different sources have informed Kotaku that the intention was, or is, to publish the game before the end of the current fiscal year. That is, before March 31, 2024.

In addition to all of this, the statements from Kotaku’s sources and what Ubisoft has said also seem to align perfectly. While Ubisoft has stated that they had a major game planned to be released before the end of the current fiscal year, the extraordinarily positive fiscal balance has led them to delay it to maximize the value of their creation. On the other hand, Kotaku’s sources claim that the game may be too ambitious and could ultimately be delayed until the next fiscal year to ensure its final quality.

In other words, while we can’t confirm that the delayed game is Star Wars: Outlaws, all signs point to it being the most likely candidate. The only date we have is a vague 2024, and even with delays, they could still make it. They have nine months of the fiscal year to meet it. And if that helps the game to be released in its best possible version, it’s undoubtedly good news.

One of the major horror releases for October decides to postpone itself: it doesn’t want competition

Alone in the Dark announced its delay until next year, arguing the need to polish aspects of the game… and move away from big releases.

If there’s one year that hasn’t seen a break in terms of video game releases, it’s 2023. With games constantly piling up, many have to either delay or advance their releases to avoid clashing with similar games or much higher-profile releases in order to secure a spot where they can gain visibility. Something that is already challenging under normal circumstances becomes even more so in a year where numerous high-quality games are being released. That’s why it’s not surprising that some have chosen to simply move to another year to avoid competing in this hectic race.

That has been the case with the remake of Alone in the Dark. Initially announced to be released on October 25, it has been delayed until January 16, 2024. This is mainly due to the fact that Alan Wake II pushed back its release by two weeks, now set for October 27, to avoid competing on October 20 with two heavyweights: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

In fact, at THQ Nordic, they haven’t denied that this is why they are postponing their release. While they have stated that they want to use the extra time to polish the game, they haven’t hidden the fact that not competing against other high-profile games and a similar game like Alan Wake II will benefit them in terms of their release.

No wonder, October is poised to be remembered as one of the most jam-packed months in the history of video games. Just looking at the highest-profile games, that month will feature Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Sonic Superstars, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Cities: Skylines 2, Ghostrunner 2, Alan Wake II, and Total War: Pharaoh. Not to mention many other lower-profile games and no shortage of indies, some of which still lack release dates.

The remake of Alone in the Dark is being developed by Pieces Interactive for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. And while we won’t see it until 2024 at least, they won’t have to contend with the wild flood of games awaiting us.
