Valve wants the Steam Machine to be like a console, and for that, it is pushing for a highly requested accessibility measure by fans

Valve is working on the new Steam Machine, a device that promises to offer PC gamers a gaming experience similar to that of home consoles. From the very beginning, users will be able to turn on the machine, log into their Steam account, choose a game, and start playing without complications. To achieve this accessibility, Valve is modifying the conditions for a game to obtain the ‘Verified’ stamp, which has been a distinctive element of the Steam Deck.

The easiest verification ever

According to statements from Lawrence Yang, designer at Valve, the next Steam Machine will have “fewer restrictions” for a title to receive verification. This is significant as the new system will have more power and will not be limited by the technical restrictions of portable devices. If a game is already ‘Verified’ on Steam Deck, it is very likely that it will also be on Steam Machine, which translates to greater clarity for consumers when making purchases.

Currently, more than 13,000 games are compatible with Steam Deck, and the Steam Machine catalog is expected to be even broader. This will allow players to enjoy a rich library without worrying about configuration issues or inconsistent performance, something that has historically been one of the frustrations of PC gaming.

In addition, Valve has paid special attention to hardware, introducing the Steam Controller Puck, a wireless receiver that also serves as a charging base for the remote control. This innovation aims to reduce interference and complications, allowing users to play “without touching anything,” thus reinforcing the idea of simple and accessible gaming.

While the price of the Steam Machine has not yet been revealed, it is speculated that it should be set below 500 euros, maintaining a competitive focus in the current market of consoles and gaming devices.

Steam Deck fans are not happy with the Oblivion remaster

The recent arrival of Oblivion Remastered has generated intense debate among the gaming community, especially Steam Deck users. Although the remastered version has “Verified” status on this platform, performance issues are evident, especially in open areas, where fps drops can be dramatic, sometimes reducing to as low as 10 fps. This contrasts notably with the original version of Oblivion, which runs at 60 fps with adjusted graphics, providing a smoother experience. Steam Deck fans are not happy with the Oblivion remaster

The recent arrival of Oblivion Remastered has sparked intense debate among the gaming community, especially among Steam Deck users. Although the remastered version has “Verified” status on this platform, performance issues are evident, especially in open areas, where fps drops can be dramatic, sometimes reducing to as low as 10 fps. This stands in stark contrast to the original version of Oblivion, which runs at 60 fps with adjusted graphics, providing a smoother experience.

The original game can often be better

Despite the fact that the original Oblivion for 10 euros has certain gameplay limitations in its PC version, such as the lack of controller support, a simple mod installation process significantly transforms the experience. After about an hour of adjustments, players can enjoy performance that rivals Skyrim on Steam Deck. For its part, Oblivion Remastered, which costs 50 euros, not only has inconsistent performance but also includes visual issues that tarnish the overall experience.

Users looking for stable performance on the Steam Deck, especially during open-world combat, will notice that the remaster falls short. For example, drops to 21 fps or lower have been recorded during intense encounters. In comparison, the original version allows for a solid framerate, even with ultra graphic settings, and a battery life that can reach up to six hours.

Amidst all these comparisons, it is worth considering that, although Oblivion Remastered has modern graphical improvements, many players may prefer the more optimized experience of the original version, especially if their goal is to play on portable hardware. Additionally, those who enjoy a more classic gameplay style may find the old version a more appealing and economical option.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: the game you can play even in the bathroom (apparently)

Square Enix has highlighted the versatility of playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in various places, even suggesting that it can be enjoyed on trains, planes, and humorously, in the bathroom. Valve’s verification classifies game compatibility into four levels: Unknown, Unsupported, Playable, and Verified. Verified titles, like this one, offer full system support, controller compatibility, and better graphics according to the device’s default resolution.

Accompanying this announcement, a new trailer was released highlighting the significant improvements that players can expect in the PC version. These include enhanced lighting, optimized graphics, and compatibility with DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), as well as customizable graphic options and support for keyboard and mouse. This attention to detail suggests that Square Enix is committed to providing an enriching experience for PC players.

With these new developments, anticipation intensifies for what promises to be an immersive experience in the world of Final Fantasy 7. Many expect that the combination of unique storytelling and technical advancements will redefine the JRPG experience on portable platforms and PC. As details continue to emerge, fans are counting down the days to the release, once again positioning it as one of the most anticipated milestones in the world of video games.
