The recent cancellation of the series Raised by Wolves from HBO Max has left deep marks on science fiction fans. Produced by Ridley Scott, the series transported us to a post-apocalyptic future where a conflict between atheists and a religious order put humanity at stake. Despite its premature ending after two seasons and a pace that many considered slow, “Raised by Wolves” stood out for its exploration of complex themes such as religion, parenthood, and the human condition.
Several Death Stranding projects in progress
However, fans of Aaron Guzikowski, the screenwriter of the series, may find comfort in his new project: a collaboration with Kojima Productions on an original story related to Death Stranding. Although it will not be an adaptation of the successful video game, Guzikowski has expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to expand this narrative universe. Death Stranding has been considered a cinematic game that evokes emotions comparable to film classics like Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell, promising a visually striking approach in this new project.
The animation will be carried out by Line Mileage, a studio founded by Jacob Robinson, Daniel Dominguez, and Brad Graeber, experts in adapting video games and comics. Dominguez has stated that working on Death Stranding is an honor, claiming that the experience of playing it was as emotionally intense as watching the mentioned cult films.
On the other hand, A24 is also working on a live-action adaptation of Death Stranding, directed by Michael Sarnoski, but the two productions are independent and not related to each other. The arrival of these new stories based on Death Stranding suggests an exciting phase for fans of Kojima’s work, while the absence of Raised by Wolves on platforms feels like a significant loss for the genre.
