If there is one good thing about Netflix is that, from time to time, it releases a series that no one expects and that becomes one of the best of the year. This has already happened on multiple occasions, with examples as clear as Stranger Things or Dark. However, this year it has achieved it with a fiction that no one expected so much repercussion: My stuffed reindeer.
At first glance, My Furry Reindeer might seem like an ordinary dramatic comedy about a comedian dealing with a stalker. Something sadly commonplace but not something that should arouse too much interest either. However, behind this bland appearance lies something far worse than that. A story that grabs you and takes you from laughing to crying in just a second. So much has this series reached that, as they have just revealed, it has slipped into the historical Top 10 of Netflix series.
A historic milestone for Netflix
My stuffed reindeer has managed to unseat The Witcher in views, leaving out the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books from the top 10. It has achieved this thanks to its 84.5 million views, an incredible number. The list is still topped by Wednesday, Stranger Things, Dahmer and The Bridgertons, as well as leaving room for other series such as Lady Gambit or Deception. However, the achievement of My Furry Reindeer is spectacular, as it can still continue to climb positions.

Throughout the seven episodes, in Netflix’s fiction we follow Donny’s story as he deals with the obsessive stalking of Martha, a seemingly vulnerable woman who becomes his personal stalker without him expecting it. What starts as a chance encounter in a pub quickly turns into a nightmare for Donny, as Martha follows him everywhere, sending him thousands of emails, voicemails, letters and tweets, crossing every imaginable boundary and making it clear how vulnerable we are today to a situation like this. A series that, without a doubt, does not leave you alone when you start watching it.
