The latest update of Star Citizen, the Alpha 3.23, is now among us. It is one of the most complete updates that the space title has received throughout its history, thus marking the path towards its definitive version.
At a technical level, Star Citizen has taken a big leap thanks to this update. According to the patch notes, we have support for the Vulkan library, which, although it is disabled by default, is available in the graphics settings menu. On its official website, it is explained that “performance and stability improvements will continue throughout version 3.23, with the goal of making Vulkan the default implementation”.

There are also changes in space battles. The AI of the pilots has been reinforced with new behaviors and they will also execute smarter strategies. On the other hand, the patch includes new animal species (kopion and marok), two new vehicles, and more ships that you can acquire in the game store. Cloud Imperium began development of Star Citizen in 2010 and since then, it has achieved the honor of becoming one of the most successful crowdfunding projects of all time. After more than a decade, CIG CEO Chris Roberts announced that this year we will finally see Star Citizen Alpha 4.0. For now, we still don’t have a release date for version 1.0 of Star Citizen, but Roberts assures that it “flickers on the horizon“.
