Xiaomi Automotive continues to make waves in the electric vehicle (EV) market, reaching an impressive milestone of 200,000 EV deliveries in just 119 days.
This rapid achievement highlights the company’s growing influence in China’s competitive electric vehicle landscape, particularly as it prepares to introduce its second all-electric model this summer.
Originally spun off from Xiaomi Corporation in 2021, the automotive division has progressed at an astonishing pace since launching its first model, the SU7, in March 2024.
Xiaomi announced it has exceeded 100,000 builds ahead of schedule
The demand for the SU7 has been overwhelming, with over 50,000 orders placed within the first 27 minutes of its launch. Currently, customers face a delivery wait time of approximately 30 weeks, underscoring the vehicle’s popularity.
After initially aiming for 60,000 units produced in 2024, Xiaomi quickly scaled its production due to the SU7’s success. Within just 32 days post-launch, the manufacturer built 10,000 EVs and has continued to push its limits, reaching 135,000 deliveries by the end of 2024.
Recently, Xiaomi announced it has exceeded 100,000 builds ahead of schedule, setting its sights on reaching 300,000 deliveries by 2025. However, with the latest surge in demand, the company has now increased its target to 350,000 deliveries, supported by its full production capacity of 300,000 units annually.
Xiaomi’s upcoming model, the YU7 SUV, is set to compete directly with the Tesla Model Y in the Chinese market, further diversifying its electric vehicle offerings. As demand appears unwavering and production lines operate smoothly, this innovative automaker continues to solidify its position in the EV sector.
With plans to launch the YU7 this summer, the company’s trajectory suggests it might achieve 300,000 deliveries even sooner than anticipated.
