Nexus Mods acquires SteamDB: the Steam-tracking site will stay free

Nexus Mods says it has acquired SteamDB, the site many PC players use to keep tabs on Steam activity. The company says the deal is meant to give SteamDB more backing and more resources, with no immediate changes for users.

According to Nexus Mods, SteamDB will keep its name, branding, separate identity, and current free feature set. Founder Pavel Djundik, better known as xPaw, will also stay involved during the transition, and Nexus Mods says it doesn’t plan to add display ads.

The sale looks more like a sustainability move than a quick push to make money. Djundik said SteamDB started in 2013 as a passion project, then turned into a full-time job, and that burnout was a major reason he decided to sell. Nexus Mods says it can bring in staff, infrastructure, and long-term support.

That matters if you’re someone who uses SteamDB to follow patches, depots, prices, backend changes, upcoming releases, and broader Steam trends across the platform.

Nexus Mods has an obvious benefit here too. SteamDB data could help warn users when a new patch might break mods. Nexus Mods says it had 73.3 million registered users and 22.5 billion downloads across more than 4,500 games as of April 2026.

If you check SteamDB regularly, those promises about continuity are the part to watch. Some users are still cautious after Nexus Mods’ 2025 sale to Chosen. For now, though, Nexus Mods says SteamDB is still free to use on the web.

The Street Fighter movie gets a new trailer and everything looks deliciously stupid

The new Street Fighter movie keeps confusing and winning over audiences in equal measure. And the new trailer isn’t going to change that. By showing us all the characters in their iconic outfits, dialing up the absurdity, they seem to have wanted to show us what we can expect from this movie: a much stupider and more hilarious reimagining of the film.

This is causing an obvious divide on social media. While some viewers feel it fits perfectly with the tone of the video games, full of absurd characters and powers, others think it goes against its spirit, much darker and more dramatic despite how colorful it is. With more comparisons to the indefensible Chun-Li movie from the 2000s than to the charming Street Fighter movie from the ’90s.

A movie just around the corner

Which makes it hard to predict how it’ll do at the box office when it premieres on October 16. But given that this means we’ll be able to see it in just a month and a half, it’s not like we’ll have to wait long to find out.

Not everything is set in stone in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. They’ve just signed a surprise actor and nobody knows what he’ll do

Does the name Noah Jupe ring any bells? Most likely not. But maybe he’ll sound more familiar if I tell you he’s the kid from A Quiet Place, and that he’s also appeared in The Death of Robin Hood, Hamnet (he was Hamlet, in fact) or Le Mans ’66. It was only a matter of time before Marvel, always on the lookout to cannibalize talent, sank its claws into him.

Unknown Man

We still don’t know which MCU character he’ll play, but we do know what his debut film will be: Avengers: Secret Wars, where, apparently, he’ll join up in some “battleworld” with a small group of heroes (at least, if they follow the plot of the original comic). Some think he could be the Beyonder, blending different versions of Secret Wars, but it’s only speculation.

Keep in mind that Jupe is only 21 right now, so, although some point to him possibly being Franklin Richards, the truth is that it’s difficult: Franklin, the son of Sue Storm and Reed Richards, has never been that old in the comics except in alternate universes and time jumps. That said, there is one clue in favor of this possibility: according to his Letterboxd account, he’s watched Fantastic Four several times over the last few days. He may just be a huge fan… or hiding something else.

For now we know little else about the Russos’ new film, beyond the fact that filming has just begun… and that it looks set, let’s be honest, to be the highest-grossing film of all time. Make Noah Jupe Marvel!

No Rest for the Wicked delays its long-awaited version 1.0 until 2027 for a good reason

One of the most anticipated games for this final quarter was No Rest for the Wicked. And we’re using the past tense because, we’re afraid, its long-awaited 1.0 version has been delayed until 2027. Specifically, until March. With plans for its release in October of this year, it has been delayed, in the words of the project’s director and studio head, Thomas Mahler, because “we want to take more time to make sure everything fits together as it should and that we don’t release the game with any bugs”.

A month of major releases

There are other reasons too, although Mahler doesn’t mention them. When version 1.0 was originally announced last April, October was a completely open month for major releases. Now, with GTA VI on the horizon, many games have shifted their release dates so they don’t have to go up against Take-Two and Rockstar’s behemoth, making October a month packed with releases that many companies are also avoiding.

That means another likely reason for the delay is finding a clearer release date. So if you’re interested in the 1.0 version of No Rest for the Wicked or its release on PlayStation 5, which will launch alongside its 1.0 version, we’re afraid you’ll still have to wait a few months.

The creators of Peak are going to publish other people’s video games, and they’ll start with a spectacular platformer

Aggro Crab have struck gold with Peak. What they expected to be a small game that would let them make a bit of money while they focused on other, bigger games has ended up being their breakout hit. And they’ve decided it’s only fair that they do something for other videogame developers with the success they’ve built up. That’s why they’ve decided to establish themselves as a publisher.

Helping more Peak exist in the world

At Aggro Crab they’re looking for videogame developers who are looking for one last push to finish their games. Specifically, they’re looking for projects with no more than two years of development left and that need no more than $500,000 to make it to the home stretch. With that in mind, they’re looking to give independent developers with interesting projects the push they need to be able to launch their videogames at a time when getting funding is getting harder and harder.

And in fact, they’ve already announced the first game they’ve funded. Called Rebounder, it’s a fascinating precision platformer with a ’70s comic-book aesthetic that will captivate fans of distinctive-looking games with slightly challenging gameplay. Because this experience promises to be a little less straightforward than Peak.

While it still doesn’t have a release date, Rebounder will be the first game published by Aggro Crab. And it’s hard to imagine a better calling card or a title more deserving of the support. Needless to say, we’ll be there on day one when Rebounder launches.

‘SpongeBob’ and ‘One Piece’ will have a crossover. No one asked for it, but in 2026 anything goes.

People talk a lot about how long-running One Piece is, but the truth is that SpongeBob has been with us even longer: it premiered on Nickelodeon three months before Luffy and company’s anime, although (to be fair) it has a quarter as many episodes: 342 compared to 1,176 and counting. It was only a matter of time before these two titans of animation, recognized all around the globe, came together in an impossible crossover.

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Monkey D. Luffy!

They won’t do it in a special episode or a theatrical release, but in a collaboration for McDonald’s in several countries… which doesn’t include Japan, for some reason. Apparently, they haven’t reached a licensing agreement, and it’s strange, because this is one of the most Japanese things possible. Something kawaii mixed with One Piece? If you take a stroll through Tokyo, you’ll see that it’s nothing unusual.

The collection, available in Happy Meals since September 15, has SpongeBob as Luffy (both normal and in Gear 5), Patrick as Zoro, Plankton as Usopp, Sandy as Nami, Gary as Chopper, Squidward as Sanji, Pearl as Robin, Larry as Franky, Smitty as Brook and Mr. Krabs as Jinbe. As you can see, in the end they were running out of characters, but even so they’ve made it to 15 by pulling in strange mashups like the Flying Dutchman as Blackbeard and Mermaid Man as Garp. It’s going to be a huge hit, right?

It’s pretty incredible, honestly. And considering that right now on the kids’ menu in half the world they’re handing out a crossover between Hello Kitty and Godzilla, they’ve clearly reached the obvious conclusion: to sell more burgers, they need more impossible crossovers. That way, anyone can sell a product of questionable quality.

George Clooney and Tom Cruise, at odds over the merger between Warner and Paramount

The merger between Warner and Paramount is raising hackles in Hollywood among those who want this ordeal over with already, even if that means selling the rights to dozens of properties to a company led by a millionaire with fascist leanings, and those who believe it’s worth fighting. The fact is that on September 30, David Ellison will have to start paying Warner 7 million a day until they can sign the deal, which could reach 7 billion if they ultimately can’t sign it for legal reasons. You’d have to be very naïve not to want to watch something like that.

If you like each other, get together

The clearest example of an actor backing the deal is Tom Cruise, who stands to benefit from it: in fact, he has just announced the filming of Days of Thunder 2 and is convinced the whole thing will be positive for Hollywood’s future: “I think it’s incredible. **They’re going to make 30 movies a year: to me it’s a community, not an industry**. The people in those studios aren’t just people in those studios. They’re my family. I know we’re going to have those 30 movies. I want us to come together as a community to help make them. Paramount won’t be the only one doing it: it’s going to take the help of every artist to be able to make them”. You decide how much you trust good old Tom.

On the other side is George Clooney, who’s spent years living in Europe away from American troubles, and who at the Venice Film Festival not only supported Mark Ruffalo, who was accused of antisemitism for speaking out against the merger, but also warned: “I don’t see how the merger is going to make financial sense for the people trying to make it happen. We’ll see. I always worry when one big company absorbs another. I always worry because it means a lot of people are going to lose their jobs”.

Who’s right? In this case, it’s possible both are. They’ll probably spend the first few years making 30 movies, even if it’s just to save their own skin, but thousands of people are going to lose their jobs along the way, because there are positions that are going to be duplicated and are pointless. Even so, the soap opera is far from over, and it looks like we won’t see a resolution until 2027. At this point, I’ll settle for an entertaining ending and for a bucket of water to fall on the millionaire’s head.
